In the recent past there have been several posts regarding motorcycle casualties and even fatal accidents due to what could be perceived as poor road design, inappropriate location of "roadside furniture", inherant traffic dangers in particular areas and lack of understanding from other road users. I have had my licence for 14 years now and until 2 years ago commuted every day by bike ( I now drive a service van ). I now average 1200kms a week behind a steering wheel both around Metro Melbourne and alot of country kms as well. What I see daily from my perspective as a van driver and as the view of a motorcyclist often makes my blood boil and it is about now I have had enough! So if you happen to drive any european vehicle - especialy with custom plates - beware as I am now armed with 14' shifter and I will take to every panel of your car without notice! Thats right I am going postal! I have lived long enough by the creed of "everyone else is an idiot on the roads so be prepared to make allowances for they're stupidity". Now it is " You are a fucking idiot and I am going to take you apart piece by piece before you get the chance to do it to anybody else......... NOW GET OFF THE FUCKING PHONE !"
I want to have a whinge and I want to make complaints against everybody out there that either puts me in danger or any other road user. Whether that be the local council for poor maintenance, Vicroads for approving poorly thought out road design, the Yellow maggots and they're toffy bretheran VHA and VHB cars, Bracks for his pathetic kneejerk no overtaking in the tunnel laws, Fuckheads that drive badly and even the arrogant motherfucker solo unit that books bikes on his way to work down the Calder whilst ignoring the miscreants eating they're breakfast cereal whilst driving through heavy traffic down the emergency lane!

The more I type the more I am calming down and running out of steam.
But seriously I am going to start to take action from now on, I have some ideas already, but if anybody has ( sensible ) suggestions as to what can be done about the state of Australian roads then speak up and speak loudly. As the unions say " United we stand......"

Well road hazards can be reported to Vic roads and the local council in the area, best to do both as both parties tend to say it's the other parites responisbility, not mine.

If it's beside tram tracks then Yarra trams are the people to contact. Roadside furniture, well WRB's are here to stay, you cna put your left nut on that, Volvo drivers et al, anti tank missile is probably your best bet, see David Hicks when he comes back to SA, he probably knows a source or 3 :D

I steer clear of Camry drivers...

They are much worse than Volvo Drivers - at least Volvo drivers consider their own safety...

Yes I have seen some vids of some very scary shit from Camry drivers in Saudi Arabia and places like that....

But yeah seeing some of the stupidity out there it really makes you want to do something about it.

I live quite near an affluent area here in Brisbane. Every morning, I ride through said area to a road which is on route to work, to collect the mail. And every morning I battle against Soccer Mum’s in there BMW/Merc/Porsche 4WD, failing to give way at round-a-bouts and stop signs cause their running late to drop the kiddies off to school.

When stopping in the light traffic, the dickheads that come so close up my arse I can smell their aftershave.

The Wakers that fail to indicate and check mirrors or do a shoulder check when they leave a parking space.

The Dumb Blond chatting away on her phone using her hands Italian style conversation, even though she’s the only one in the farking car. The Suited old fella reading the Business section of the news paper and slowly creeping into the other lane.

My rant, take away fancy CD/tape players, radios, GPS, lighter sockets and A/C buttons. Strip ALL cars back to it’s needed basics. Every time you go to renew your Drivers Licence, you must sit your drivers exam again. No Pass, No Licence.

Rant over

 I had a minibus full of idiots run me off the road up there and hanging out the rear window trying to grab passing riders .

Anyway after I turned around and caught up to them  Neither their mirror nor them will be doing that again in any hurry

In reply to mick - I have been to the Vicroads website and can find absolutely no reporting / whinge area. The best I can find is the MRA website for making complaints. Have tried calling Vicroads to go through the automated shit " smash your keypad now if you would like to talk to an operator" I gave up after being on hold for 16 mins to speak with someone who claimed they would put me through to someone that dealt with that area only to be passed around the switchboard to 3 other people and then back on hold. Total call time : 47 mins with no result!

Reply to NBG - I am with you get rid of all this make your life so easy shit in cars and reduce them back to the bare essentials - Steering wheel, seats and pedals. Anybody that owns and uses a GPS is a fuckwit! Buy a street directory and shift your lazy arse to learn how to read it. As for DVD LCD 5.1 and games consoles stay at fucking home because thats where these things belong. If the journey is so boring then why bother going anywhere!
Oh and how ironic that Affluent is only one letter away from Effluent!

Yep, that makes me a fuckwit then.

I've also been in the 'yellow maggot' industry for thirty years.

HTFU mate

You can tell me all about it when you see me

Ok then Ronster It is stereotypical of me to paint all "Profesional" Taxi drivers with the same brush, but likewise motorcyclists it takes only the poor behaviour of one ( or in the case of Melbournes Taxi drivers an average of 5 everyday) to taint the entire group. In general Melbournes Taxi drivers are completely unproffesional and are appalling in their observance of road laws, common sense and even basic manners. If Ronster you tout yourself to be one of the good crew driving one of these yellow Dodgem Cars then I am happy to engage in debate with you regarding your own point of view but accept it from my side as a member of the general public that see your industry from the outside and it is not a good look.
Over all people have become too self obsessed and believe that not only do they have an absolute right to use the roads but that they have also become so secular in their mobile entertainment facility that other road users have no right to impede their progress and thus must make way.
Now by standing up here and voicing my opinion I understand that I am open to attack and scrutiny for my own behaviour on the roads, and I welcome that. I am interested in discussion that may bring about change towards attitudes, to see just how many others vent their own frustrations or if anybody can offer constructive ideas towards making the roads a better place. Fuck knows Neil Mitchel isn't helping Melbourne traffic

To put my money where my mouth is I have contacted this group http://www.roadsafe.org.au/index.cfm?councilid=18
and I intend on getting involved. Anybody else interested?
As for the 14" shifter remark above, well thats obviously just fantasy, but certainly the way I feel.

Easier that way :D

Amen to that. Those 'kers are dangerous. Then again, it is a car designed for people who hate driving and have no passion for motoring...

*soz to those of you who own them lol
