Police hunt speeding biker

Police will today try to track down a motorcyclist who overtook an unmarked police car at high speed this morning.

The motorcyclist overtook the transit police vehicle at about 1.20am on the Western Ring Road at Cairnlea, and failed to heed a police request to pull over.

Police followed the motorcycle on to the West Gate Freeway, before abandoning their pursuit at Altona North after about two minutes, because of safety concerns.

The motorcyclist was travelling at a speed of around 200 k/mh, police estimate.

He was last seen heading north on Millers Road.

Officers recorded the motorcyclist's number plate and will conduct registration checks today in a bid to identify the rider.

Gee, I wonder if it was a bargain priced 2007 ZX10R that used to have rim stripes on it?

According to the theory, shouldn't he be dead once reaching 200 ?

Personally, I don't care if they do a blitz or whatever. I don't ride like a complete tosser (much ;) ). *Mostly* I do it in places where I'm unlikely to get caught, for example the racetrack.

Because the address on your bike's rego might be from the place you were living at three leases ago and when the cops show up there to have a chat, they'll find a family of Sudanese refugees.

Alternately, if you live alone, you could always lay low at a mate's house for a week, and when the cops do eventually catch up with you, tell them you've been in Queensland and are they sure they have the right license plate.

Or you could just instruct whoever you live with to tell the cops you're in Queensland.

None of it's guaranteed to work, but, hey, it's an option...
