hey all the time for me to upgrade is drawing ever closer and so far i find myself giving serious consideration to a suziki or a honda as i am looking for a sports tourer and want full faring i am having troble finding this in a kawa can any body give me some help and sugest a modle that would fall into the folowing requirements

1: full fairing
2: clased as a sports tourer
3: engine betwen 750 and 900

the only other thing id be looking at is the option of a tour pack that i can get put on and take off the cases for the fun up the twisties

all help and opinions will be a grate help

Why don't you just buy a VFR800 and be done with it

your brief says VFR750

why not zx9 ?

yeh like most hondas

ride one that has been setup well and its a different story , much the same for most hondas

why must it be 750-900?

zx12,zzr12, they were running out zzr12's with pannniers but they are ugly

i dunno if you are shopping by paper or have actuallly been and ridden any bikes , really gotta go and ride some things, despite what thing appear on paper or what journos write , you need to ride for yourself and decide

theres a few older zx9rs getting around at the mo (cambo has one on here i see) which might be a nice step...wot u upgrading from?? 250?? 600??

if stepping up from a 250 the 600cc range is suprisingly good to step to..learn abt bigger bikes, without going too big...

the eralier zx6r (now a USA zzr) like 00-02 would be ok, or an earlier 9..

then again the cbr929 was good to tour on (but some of the zx10 riders say the same thing)...so its all abt choices...

yeh steeping up from a 250cc and my concerns over a 500cc or 600cc is that 12 - 18 mths and ill be wanting to step up again and i was thinking that if i go to a 750 - 900cc i might not be looking to get another bike till about 5 years after and as im looking at getting the bike new rather than 2nd hand i plan on a good 5 years out of it maybe longer this is only as a restlt of the $$$$ i had to spend on getting a reco engin 6 mths after i bought the bike i would rather not take the chance of that happening again

yea but if u go for a 750-900cc the motor is more robust than a cheap shitty 250...also the power/handling difference is a huge step up....

im of the philosophy of taking ur time to climb the ladder, not trying to jump to the top rung...

remember that the weight etc will make it a totally different bike..

just my opinion tho...

unless you buy one with 4 million k's on it you wont be worried about a rebuild..............

my zx9 for example has 117K on it and when it had the last service @ 113 the mechanic (who i have used for years and trust) said everthing is fine and dandy inside and ready for another 100. oil changes are the key

unless your a big fella, like 85+ kilos and over 5'11 and/or have aspirations to be the next valentino rossi or casey stoner a modern 600 will be fine - uncomfortable, but fine. the older ones were more all rounders than todays bikes that are supersport race weapons.

i'd be going for a zx9 over the vfr800, cause you'll tire of the boredom quite easily - guaranteed just as comfy, will carry gear all day, better more useable power and cheaper to get into.

unfortunatly no-one makes a bike that does everything better IMHO

One of the guys up here (RedRoo) will outride just about anyone he wants on an old ZZR600 on touring tyres, so why would there be a need to step up in 12 months?

ok guys and gals firstly im 6'1" and about 90 - 95 kg and if i have my little sis on the back as my bitch she is another 85 kg give or take

so im trying to work it uot based on the posabil waight of about 180 kgs

Get a ZX9 - problem solved. It will take both of you in comfort, and will suit your size better than a 600. You can tour all day on a 9, and fang with the best of them when it suits you.

High praise from a non-9 owner , but the more I see of them in action, the more I understand why their owners are so 1-eyed........

Then, after 5 years, sell the 9 and get a 12. Its just *more* of everything that the 9 offers....

as tanya and gos have said the 9 is the bike for you.

pleanty around at a good price and with what you save on purchase cost and subsequent depreciation you could have some good riding gear and all the tasty bits you need......like an ohlins and a nice exhaust, DB screen....oh its all as clear as day now.
