20 Years of RAGE .........On the ABC !!!

Kicking off tomorrow night, RAGE will be celebrating 20 Years of broadcasting..........yep, it started 20 years ago this month. So, for the rest of April, each Saturday night for 4 weeks, they will be broadcasting the best of each 5 years from 1987 to 2007. Tex Perkins will be the *basic* host, as he has guest-hosted 4 editions of Rage now, more than any other guest programmer.

This will be an opportunity to tape/record to DVD/ hard disc (whatever), some of the best and most influential videos released by bands and artists from around the globe.

Don't Miss It !!!

I have lifted the following blurb from the website........

r-r-r-aaaage.

Since that blood curdling scream first hit TV screens across Australia late one Friday night back in April of 1987, rage has gone on to build an iconic place in the hearts and minds of music lovers, party animals, drunken hordes, TV addicts and insomniacs alike, who find themselves caught in the rage trap (“I’ll just watch one more song…”)

This month rage turns 20! So we’re inviting you to crack open the champagne and join us on the couch as we bring you some of rage’s funniest/ugliest/sexiest/loudest/most incoherent (and everything in between) guest programmer moments, unseen bloopers, behind-the-scenes footage and some little known facts about rage… All that and more, scattered between a painstakingly chosen collection of classic rage music videos.

This weekend’s program goes back to where it all began – 1987 – and takes us through the first 5 years of rage, with an introduction from Tex Perkins and clips from the likes of New Order, The Saints, My Bloody Valentine, Happy Mondays, The Stone Roses, Sonic Youth, Faith No More, A Tribe Called Quest, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana and Primal Scream, just to name a few…

This will be *great* viewing, and is a once-in-a-20-year opportunity .....

mate - it works like this. Saturday night Rage generally always starts in the early hours of Sunday morning, although sometimes it may also start around 11.30 on the Saturday night, but its always referred to as 'Saturday night' and 'Friday night' episodes, otherwise it would confuse the hell out of the unwashed masses.........

The Friday night show goes right through to the Saturday morning, its just easier to refer to Friday night or Saturday night shows.........if you are not a Rage watcher this will all be news to you.....

It can be a trap for taping shows - make sure you set the timer for the *Sunday* am times if you are doing Saturday night.........

 Go the Oils............its not a bad play-list tonight, I am looking forward to all the out-takes, etc, promised as part of the whole shebang. Tex Perkins is pretty laid-back at the best of times  :drinkers: . so he should inject a bit of humour into the show.

There are some great songs on tonight. I just rang Jeff at 00:15am to start the hard drive recording :D As for Tex Perkins, in his heyday with The Cruel Sea, he was sex on legs! love7.gif

Nah, missed the first few songs. Recording started at "True Faith" by New Order, which is a great song with a trippy film clip anyway! new_scrambles.gif
