Hi guys, just a quick one.

I need a new chain for the 600, the shop said it's a 530, is this correct? I can only find 520's

my zx6r manual says 525

Won't matter if you swop the sprockets at the same time but it should be 525

110 link 50VM - it's a 530. I've got a DID gold x-ring on mine with a lightweight rear sprocket. It's holding up well so far.

mate the higher the number (530) is a thicker heavier chain..hence why race bikes run 520, cos its lighter ....

i think my zed runs 525 (i havent looked)..if it came as OEM id replace it with the same... i went from 530 to 520 on blade and chewed a chain real quick....

stick with oem size...

I just put a 530 on mine, x ring, none of this fancy gold shit though, just a bog standard 530 chain.

thats what id do if it fitted...it will last longer...and yes u will need a chain and sprockets if u convert (but u should do them all togther neway)

another little question, i don't need the chain to last long (just till i build up some more cash for a good one and some new sprockets) and mcas have a 530 for $40.

They said it is a standard chain, they also have an o-ring for $179 or an x-ring for $267.

I will look at the x-ring soon, but what would be the difference between the standard and the o-ring?

Oring has a Oring between links that keeps grease in and muck out the other has nothing and will wear quick

front sprockets dont need to be a big name brand..just ask for a hardened steel one (no more than $20 really) there just as good...
rear sprocket go for steel, lightweight aluminium wear much quicker, and ur not racing...

get a good quality DID o ring chain...u dont need a x ring (overkill i reckon) for road use, but id go with o-ring.... lasts longer...

a cheaper chain may be weaker and cause drama later..

FWIW when I priced them recently, as in like a month or so, maybe 2 months ago I did mine, x-ring was $10 dearer than O ring so if the song remains the same in Sydaney then go that way I suggest.

If you haven't got the readies for chain and sprockets then I wouldn't chnage it all unless it's completely farked!.

I checked the sprockets and they look ok to me (haynes manual). i've done 20000 on this chain and it is good except for one stiff link (it is getting to the end of it's stretch) but there is still some room to move.

do it all together or the sprockets will root the new chain...
if its only 1 stiff link try to clean it, lube it and see if u can free it up..then u might get an extra coupla weeks out of it, so u can save for the new set...

i talked to some people, and got an o-ring and new front sprocket (there was virtually no wear on the rear at all, but i will change it next weekend anyway).

The first time you cut into the old chain with an angle grinder is a little daunting....(no emergency link). I just kept thinking....what if i stuff this up? then when i got the new chain on and had to cut 5 links off that......again...oh crap...if this stuff the chain..i have to walk.

BTW got an angle grinder 1100w at BigW with 40 disks (20 metal cutters, 10 metal grinders and ten masonary cutters).....$40.00....$1 per disk and free machine!!!
