I have a trackday on Friday and discovered late last night that my Matris Steering damper mount is broken (the part that actually holds the damper body). If I had found it when I parked the bike last year I would have had ample time to try to sort it out. Oh well I guess it is better than finding out at the track.
I don't know whether to head out if I cannot get hold of the part, the R1 is a headshaker even with a tight-set damper on it let alone without, and my tankslapping record isn't so good either.
So ah, yeah, just wanted to have that whinge....

Cable Ties maybe
or if you rode it instead of abandoning it in the garage (although i cant blame you really) then you would have noticed earlier.

I'd take Mario up on his offer "Strawbs" or if pushed for time as it seems ya are. Find a local TIG welder specialist & get it fixed local.
"As for your siggie put "team tank slappa" back in it please, FFS a broken Dampner mount if that doesn't qualify for a promotion in team Tank Slappa, i dont know what does.

thats the best bet - a local welder should be able to fix this for *not much*......

Nah I don't think welding will fix it man, it will just break again I imagine, as it has to be smooth underneath to hold the damper body properly.
If all else fails I am going to try the cable ties and Gaff, but I can't imagine it doing a good job considering the forces that broke the thing in the first place.
And yes, I might need to HTFU, but I am only little.....
