Single brake/indicator cluster

Hey guys,

My GPX comes with a tail light that has amber indicator lenses on either side of it. Of course, there are no bulbs in the indicator sections as the indicators are attached to the plastic licence plate holder thingy underneath it like to mutated stumps.

Just wondering, would I be defected if I relocated the indicator bulbs from down on the plastic licence plate holder thingy, to right next to the brake light? I somehow recall that the indicators need to be, by legislation, a certain distance apart from each other.

Can anyone confirm or debunk this?

Cheers,

Tom.

PS The pics of the bike will be up soon :p

weird how on the zzr600 they are in the same position... but not the zzr/gpx 250...

i believe its not a super hard task to get the globes in there...

i also believe the law (in SA) is 300mm between indicators...

i also believe no1 really gives a bugger abt that law..i kno i dont...

years ago when i had a new zzr250 (had 2 actually, but that's another story) i connected up the rear indicators - had to sand the paint off the indicator bodies etc - no big deal. tidys up the back of the bike. never got defected or even warned about it. (i'm in melb too)

adr's do actually state the distance from center to center on the rear indicators has to be 300mm. doubt the zzr600 is that far apart....

It would be a cold day in hell if you were defected for having indicators that were too close together.

Those old GPX's look good with the indicators fitted within the rear unit.

Do It !!!

I got defected for an integrated unit once where half of the brake light would flash orange when you indicated. If they want to defect you, it makes it very easy - provided the coppers know what they're doing.

That's a bummer Loz. Was it because there was a light leak between the lenses, or because of the fact that they were too close?

yea but those aftermarked LED style ones (like wot i think u mean u had) are hard to see sumtimes..i kno a few ppl who have em...

at least u could argue the zzr/gpx "came out like this sir" and maybe prove it with pics of the zzr600...
