Shopping Centre Car Parks

Oh well, need to talk to the insurer after an experience in the mt annan shopping centre car park last wednesday....

Arrived back at my bike and started to undo disc lock when i noticed a crack in the nose cone of my zzr250. Suddeny a voice from behind me says "don't worry i saw the whole thing"

Apparently someone had backed their car into my bike and knocked it over, got out, picked it up and then parked a few spots away and went shopping as if nothing had happenned.

Meanwhile i had broken nose cone and foot peg, and scratched fairing, exhaust, and brake lever and some other damage. According to Parramatta Kawasaki, about $3500 damage, but will have to wait for the assessor to compare the quote to what they think the damage is worth...

While i was getting details of a couple of witnesses, the guy comes back and has a better look at whats happenned, and hands me his details, so i guess it won't be as it could have been

Atleast he came back and gave you his details, he could have been a prick and told you to screw yourself. Still, he should have been looking where he was going!! Good luck with the quote mate, hopefully insurance will cover it all.

as long as u got the deatils its all good.

My mate parked his car at a small shopping centre, when we got out the arse end was pushed in and there was a note on the windscreen that was not legible. He had pay everything until the cops did an investigation and hunted down the person that did it. Her excuse was "i left him a note and he didnt contact me". Some people are just shifty.

When I had my Monaro I would sometimes take up 2 parking spots to reduce the chance of someone hitting me.

Hehehe i do that. But generally i try not to take my car to the shops. When i have to, i park right up the back away from everyone.
If you do it where others want to park, you'd probably get it keyed. :(

I've seen people run into cars and just take off. I have always left their details along with mine, as a witness. Fark em low life cants. :x
I reckon if no-one was around, this guy would have taken off.

kind of off topic but nearly 3 months ago a truck changed lanes into my car while the missus was driving and did 2.5-3k worth of damage. The owner has made it as hard as possible to sort out. I couldn't understand your phone message. I didn't recieve anything in the mail. We are now on the way to small claims court. On the car park thing our local shopping centre has raised islands designated as bike parking. There seems to be a real culture for jealous little shits to trash nice cars though. There was a late model Porsche that had every panel kicked in far enough to need replacement.

Tough Break Timbo, but it'll get sorted at least, as opposed to our little mate PC. As you can see in the members Section my 64 Pontiac wont fit in a normal park, so i park in the middle of 4 spots way out the back n walk the extra 50- 100 meters to whatever i m going too. These things are too inconvenient to be lax with. Not that either of team zzr were mind you, just making a point as to what i do.
Cheers Brett

Hi peoples,

Been a while since i visited these pages, and thought i'd better give you all an update on my bike.

Called Famous Insurance, and they asked me to get a quote (got this from Parramatta Kawasaki), and let them know. Quote came in at about $3000....they called the guy who hit my bike and he didn't deny anything (real nice of him, i know). Assessor came out to look at the damage, repairs were authourised, and carried out. 2 1/2 weeks later, my bike was repaired and all is happy again.....

I got quite a shock at the prices of some of the parts that were required. If anyone is interested, and i can find the paperwork, i will post up the prices.

While it was being repaired, i got them to do the 12000km service (cost around $400), so all should be happy and hopefully trouble free for the next little while.

Cheers,
Timbo
