Nobby and the road, an intimate meeting

I guess it had to happen some time, and today was the day;

Travelling to work in the rain this morning around 6:30am turned left off Narre North Rd and headed up Wellington Rd towards Rowville.

Two slow moving trucks doing around 15kph and struggling to get up the hill in the left hand lane so myself and the Magna behind me took the right hand lane to overtake .. and that's when it all went wrong.

The bastard second truck pulled into the right hand lane to overtake the first truck, and left me with no where to go on a wet slippery oil soaked piece of shitty road.

I was braking and sliding towards the arse of the truck and finished up putting the bike down and spinning up the road on my left hand side.

bike = fairing, bars, pegs, topbox

Me = dislocated thumb, sore knee and skin missing from the elbow.

Truck = didn't stop the bastard

I going to have a think about this but on reflection, it may have been my lucky day, there is a ditch running beside the road and if I had of spun into that I would have been ejected off the bike and into the scrubbery.

bugger of a way to start the day though.

Sorry to hear about your off, glad your ok.

I hate riding in the wet, no chance to do anything when a tool like this driver cuts you off.

The lady in the Magna pulled over with her emergency lights on and blocked the lane, and a guy in a 4WD pulled over and helped me right the bike .. but the truck went speeding off at 20kph and nope didn't get the mongrels rego number either. I had time to have a good look at that bit of road while I was waiting for my son to turn up with the trailer, and it is covered in a layer of oil, almost to the pint of being smooth.

Smitty your right bikes can be fixed .. but no engine, frame or tank damage, and the fairing are only scraped and not cracked so I will get to know my bike a little better as I fix it. What's pissing me off is that in 3 bike accidents over the years I have been riding .. every friggen time I do the same thumb :cry:

Glad to hear you're ok nobby. Is my bug bear with trucks, truck a can only do 15kph up the hill so truck b wants to overtake but he can only do 17kph up the hill so it's a fuggin mobile roadblock, it's ludicrus and it should be illegal as it is in South Africa evidently.
