My mate crashed his brand new Suzuki GS500 F last night :(

He hit a kangaroo at 110km/h

He had to be airlifted this morning to Newcastle hospital at 3.00am. He was only wearing shorts and a jumper. As well as loosing alot of skin he was is in a neck brace for suspected spinal injury, fractured foot, and his knee on the side he came off on is farked up pretty bad and needs to be operated on.

I havent seen the bike but I dont think its in much good shape, but its under warranty and insurance and all that stuff...

So both my mates have now come off there bikes.

Yep... young skip died upon impact... that didnt stop jacob (who is a tall built bloke) getting up of the road even with his injuries, and kicking the shit out of young skippy, then hoping back on his battered bike with skewed steering, riding into town and flagging down help then passing out before the ambo's arrived.

We are all amazed he had the energy to do both the kicking of the dead kanga and getting back on the bike.

this is why I refuse, as far as possible, to ride at night on country roads...........its just a lottery. Even around the burbs it can be a bit hazardous, esepcially the outlying ones........

I hope your mate heals quickly, and I bet he never rides a bike again in shorts.......

Kangaroo is my worst fear , on par with gravel... hope your mate recover quickly.

p.s. is it true they only come out at night? I have encounterd three small ones, all early morning and late afternoon. Two were just standing on the side of the road but one jumped across :x

they can come out anytime, I almost got cleaned up by one on the PI trip last month at nearly 9am !! :x

But - the reality is that anywhere between dusk and dawn is *Danger Zone* for a kanga-scud, you really need to be on your toes, and frankly I so hate riding at night I basically don't do it unless its *absolutely* unavoidable........

Well night riding is a no-no for me anyway, circa 1992 after that diesel spill in the middle of the night :x
