Things of note:
- Jamie Stauffer is continuing where he left off in 06 at the front
- Mighty Team Green are looking initially strong with both riders in the top 5
- Robbie Bugden and Craig Coxhelll are surprisingly down the order in 12th and 13th respectively
- Not half as surprising as seeing the-Go-Show down in 24th and nearly 7.5 seconds off the pace. Perhaps he is riding his ol' '96 Muzzy ZX7R  . Hope he can pick his pace up over the weekend.

a couple of points of note from today at the creek. I managed to get out there this afternoon for a chat with a few of the riders.

the go show had riden the bike for the first time in the first practice, it wasnt handling at all like he wanted, the team had made some changes and they were hard at it again when i spoke with them - and mr gobert this arvo. he didnt seem too worried and said he had a fair bit left but he needed to "get the bike to handle".

shannon and wayne's zx6r's are virtually stock except for a bit more compression thanks to a thinner head gasket - thats it. last years rear shocks and revalved 07 forks with a modified 06 exhaust system. tyres seem to be more of a concern on the ss bikes.

the tens seem to be going OK, shannon indicated to glenn his crew cheif that he was having front end trouble by his actions whilst i was in the pits watching, still 3rd fastest is a good start, not far behind jamie and shaun giles. tyres once again are of concern. mad maxwell was going pretty weel too - jovial as ever. he will be one to watch when the flag drops as they know tyres will be shot towards the end of the race - they will be gong for it early and i expect wayne maxwell to be spectacular. BTW those of you that know wayne will know he pretty solidly built - he has been doing a LOT of training by the look of it and seems alot slimmer than before and extremely fit. shannon as usual looks like he's ready to ride the tour de france.

glenn allerton has a smile back on his face, i expect him to do well this year and is my tip of one to watch as the season progresses.

gilesy and jamie were smooth and quick, jamie as ever was pretty laid back when i spoke to him, he seemed to have enjoyed himself being a tv celebrity last night. the yosimura suzuki's souns absolutley awesome as they gas it up out of turn nine, by far the loudest bikes i heard to day.

got my new shirts, same as last year so you wont miss me

cant wait for sunday - bring it on

There is live timing this year, saw a link on http://www.formula-xtreme.com.au/
It didn't work when I clicked it, well after the action had finished for the day and only brought up the results from the last round in '06 from the creek, hopefully it will work this week-end.
Channel nine are broadcasting the action this year- better not be 3 months after the race like 10 did in '06 and hopefully that "HUGE MOVE THERE" bloke doesn't call the races.

Can anybody going do me a huge favour and find out what the ZX10 guys are running for gearing.

I will be heading down in march and i think my gearing may be a little short so want to be ready just in case. Want to learn the track and find out some times before deciding to enter the final round in november.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that update Phil. Haven't talked with Jamie since just before the Fox Sports thing. I had to call and remind him not to be so serious and to smile during the interview so people would know that he really does like racing!
Jamie's former Kawasaki mechanic, Chris, just arrived in America to work for Kawasaki here (Jamie Hacking's bike). He's brought over a DVD of the last round at EC in November. Can't wait to get that from him and watch it. Hacking now has two of Jamie's former mechanics working for him!

22 Brent SIDWELL 1:37.536
23 Mark HIGGINS 1:38.010
24 Denis CHARLETT 1:39.669

Incredibly close qualifying apart from Jamie. 2nd to 16th is covered by a mere 1.1 seconds! Johnno and Maxwell dropped back a bit but a good start from them would see 'em very competitive for second, coz no-one will get near Jamie at this stage.

The red flag came out with only a few minutes left of the final qualifying so a few riders probably lost out, thou no one would have got near Jamie's time.
Blake Leigh-Smith had a ripper race in the 125's

the session was restarted. and the red flag was casue 2 riders crashed. one of them was jamie - when describing his crash he said " i just lost the front, i had a qualifyer in and it was going to be a fast one  "

he didnt even bother putting his leathers on for supersport 2nd qualifying.

I noticed that, I was watching the live timing and hoped he was not out because he didn't have to be! the live timing, although great to have, is quite primitive and it took me a while to suss out what I was actually watching, the qualifying sessions require you to calculate who is the fastest as it displays the #1 spot to the rider who is quickest at the time, at one point I thought a rider called Sidwell was winning the Superbike race as the page showed it to be a race and not the second qualifying...very confusing.
I suspect no one will get near Jamie tomorrow---S/S or S/B
Round one of the WSBK next SATUARDAY too.
Anyone know where we can watch it on the Internet, or wait till some kind soul uploads it to a bit torrent site (can I ask this??!!)

I watched the superbike live timing and it did have a function that showed the riders in order of the combined times.
As for the first round of the World Supers, I have Fox to watch it on but have my brothers engagement party to go to. Might have to duck out for a while!
