just asking if theres a racing class in NSW thats just for 250's... 4 strokes that is.
just saying caues ive had an absolute BALL ringing the neck out of the gpx250 that i dont want to let it go when i upgrade.
oh and for the record, i just got my new tyres, and im down to just under a cm for chicken strips

not bad for a newb.
if i can, im thinking of when the upgrade time comes ill strip apart the gpx.. give it the cheap replacement parts it needs, and take it to the track. give it a bit of thrashing if theres a suitable class i could race in.

Just buy yourself an RD250LC and get into some historic 2-stroke racing mate. You'll love it.

Not really. I race mine, then bring it home and stick it in the shed. I make sure it starts a couple of days before the next meet.
They are extemely easy to work on and as long as you don't get around running it too lean or trying to squeeze every last bit of HP out of it, all you'll ever really need to replace are pistons and rings.

Down here in Vic they have started what I think has been called the superlight class, which is basicaly any roadgoing 4 stroke 250, 2 or 4 cylinder - CBR VT Zeal Ballius ZX2 FZR GPX etc etc. Basicaly the shitfighter class. I am keen on getting amongst this sort of thing as it is more about just having a heap of fun than playing for sheepstations in the bigger classes. On a 250 a set of tyres will last a whole year, as will the brakes chain and sprocket probably 2. Chuck it down the road, who cares pick it up again add duct tape and get going again. I was talking to one of the guys ( Fred ?) at Vic Motorcycle wreckers a while ago about this as they have four bikes they run in this class and are members of Preston MC. He said that on a club day you can get up to 7 races in one day as there are three for this class alone, plus another 3 for I think he said new era and then a final race for all classes for those that have failed to finish in a podium position. It sounds like good cheap fun to me but the trouble and strife dosen't quite see it that way........yet.

I don't think you'll be able to improve on that without modifying the bike. I've scraped the feelers, side stand and centre stand now and I've got about the same wear as you (although I'd estimate I actually have about 1.5 cm unused).
The side stand has taken the biggest beating so removing the centre stand isn't going to help.

Flat out down the straight.........160km/hr.
Sounds like you shouldn't get into to much trouble.
