All

As some of you will have seen from my ZZR sale thread http://www.ksrc-au.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=14337, I am selling my bike.

I was wondering if any of you could give me feedback on the various sale sites.

I've listed it on ebay, bike sales and the trading post. Are they any good as places to sell?

Its listed at a price lower than any other listed bike for its year and condition but is generating zero interest.

Is my price too high or do I need to show a bit of patience here?

Otherwise I am thinking of trading it in when I upgrade.

Cheers
Mark

I don't know much about the zzr 250, but I do know I could buy a brand new gpx 250 for your asking price ! Maybe that's what others are thinking too ?

Good Luck

Woody - whereabouts - I've seen a GPX250 quoted at 6500 + ORC but not cheaper.

last time i was in lismore, at city bikeworks, they had one on the showroom floor, it was priced somewhere between $5000-$6,000, I can't remember exactly, but it was less than $6,000 !

I was just looking on the net about the zzr 250, It weighs slightly more than the gpx 250, and has the same top speed of about 160 km/h !

Thanks. The ZZR has a higher top speed (170 kph) although I have done a smidge more than that on mine. They have the same engine I think but the Z has 17" wheels and also larger fairings (ZZR body styling aka the ZZR600). I had a ride of a pretty old GPZ250 for 2 days in Qld a few months ago which didn't feel great to me but I think that may be due to the bike's age.

personally id offer 4000 - 4500.... considering the price you bought it for, and its got 20 000 on it, even though this isnt much, its still pretty substantial, and youve dropped it *even though theres no physical signs, it still happened, i wouldnt have mentioned it, if theres no sign of it*

maybe 5000 if you were including new 12 months of rego, new chain, tyres etc.

edit: and ive just noticed that you are including 12 months rego and relatively new tyres. as long as the chains in good order, id say 5000 dollars or near offer, and accept as low as 4500..

It's not original in the paint or decal scheme. This knocks the resale a bit. As does anything over 20K on a 250. FWIW, without trying to offend you (and you did ask) I would estimate it's current market value at around $3750-$4000. If you can nab some punter at more than that, you have done well. A dealer will offer you $2000-$2500 as a trade in as a rough guess without seeing it!

Well I've done 170 on my GPX but the speedo seems to read about 10% high. So real speed was prob 155.
I bought my undropped 2003 GPX250R with 10,500 km for $4000, so maybe that's why your bike isn't generating much interest?

Thanks all for feedback. Food for thought. Prob needs a price drop so I'll look at that. I've been offered $4.5K on it as a trade in on a new 600 by a couple of dealers so that puts a floor on what I'll ask for it.

Yeah I think my speedo is about 10% over as well. Top for me was 175 on a long long straight on a KSRC ride (on a private test track of course.....)

dont forget..a trade in price can also reflect how much they have as a margin... so really there not giving u $4500..there giving u $2500 and dropping the price of the bike by $2000...

ussually u will get more as a private sale for ur bike..then if u talk turkey & carry a wad of cash, u can still get $2k knocked off the price of the bike...

also new bikes have more margin therefore they can trade/discount more...

Yeah thats true. Don't think I'm going to get a $2K cash discount though compared to a trade.

I had my ZXR250 up for sale on Bikesales for the past 3 weeks with only two people calling about it. The second caller came to check it out on Sunday and it was sold. I wanted $6k and got it.

If I were to trade it in when I got the GSXR the dealer offered me $3800 for it.

If your not in a hurry to sell it maybe leave it advertised for a little longer and see if you get any more interest, then maybe check out your options-drop the price or go the trade in. Just make sure your happy with the out come.
