Kawasaki - in their infinite wisdom ( ) - put a genuine parts sticker on my new rear cowl, which is proving hard to get off.

Does anyone have any advice on how to remove a sticker from the paintwork without doing any damage please?

I don't think that my usual fingernail scratch job is a good idea here

Sorry I should have mentioned that I have removed some of it, but there's a big area of sticker glue with part of the paper backing still on it.

window cleaner

Try soaking it in cooking oil. Let the oil soak right into the remaining sticker, then get a wet rag and wipe it away.

If that doesn't work, try turps to remove the residue that is left over.

Failing that.... eucalyptus oil

yup, soak a bit of a rag in window cleaner and leave it over the sticker for 10 mins or so to soak, then it should just wipe off nice and easy.

If that doesnt work, maybe some metho or turps, be gentle though.

Wouldn't turps ruin the paint?

eucalyptus oil , you can buy it in a small bottle from coles or somewhere like that . It works a treat it'll just wipe the sticky glue right off and won't damage the paint at all just use a soft cloth so you don't scratch the paint up , I've used it before on original stickers off an 84 tarago and it got them off .

it might take the gloss off the clear top-coat if its left on too long. The window-cleaner stuff is good for this, if the residue proves *really* sticky, then just soak a tissue with a bit of eucalyptus oil, it will take the rest off in a flash.

The windex seems to have worked, but there's still some sticker residue so I'll grab some eucalyptus oil tomorrow.

I was gonna say eucalyptus oil but everyone else beat me to it and its done now........ *sigh*

big kevs goo remover!!!

when some smarty little farka decided to badge my car ( a fricking corolla ffs!!!) i had to buy new badges (one on the front and three on the back, total cost of $80) and had to remove the old goop, the only thing that got rid of the old residue without marking or leaving any trace was big kevs goo remover. if you cant find that, almost any other citrus based surface cleaner would do a good job.

But the euco oil will do an awesome job too.

The citrus stuff rocks
