Hi guys,

newbie question time.....................

I have been on several websites and chat sites on motorcycling.

Lots of people mention regarding thier bikes for sale or bikes they have purchased as the bikes have not been ridden in the rain?

Whats the big deal if its ridden in the rain or not?

Does it reduce the life of the engine?

whats with it?

if i had to buy a 2nd hand bike and the guy said it was ridden in the rain occasionally i would most probably not care. I dont know why i would have to care.

in a nutshell mate, its a load of horse shit.

"Not ridden in the Rain", is a wankers way of saying that their bike has *never* been exposed to the elements, is only ridden on bright sunny days with a humidity of no less than 1015 millibars, has not been thrashed etc etc etc. "Perfect condition.......no marks no scratches because it has not been ridden in the rain  FFS .....

It really is the signature of a pussy-whipped nutless tosspot who hasn't got the balls to ride on a wet road..........

It actually means nothing in terms of engine wear etc,.

Happy to help.

If they have bikes that haven't been ridden in the rain, then they probably mean the bike is owned by Mina.

  Perhaps Blue12 should answer this one, IF I recall correct and I am sure will correct me upon his return home tonight that his bike would be lucky if it has ever seen water more than twice

There are some benefits to a bike having not been ridden in the rain. Water does eventually wash away all the lovely grease which lubricates the swingarm, shock linkages, steering head and wheel bearings. But a pressure washer will do more damage than a days fangin in the rain! Mine get ridden in the rain, often by choice!

I think once upon a time bike electrics would disintegrate with frequent wet riding...but that was in the past...

The Mrs got an involuntary lesson in heavy rain riding on our trip up the Bunya's...if she can manage it, and these guys can't...

I bought my first bike (gpx 250) in august 04 in the worst rain sydney had seen for years, then i bought my second in August 05 (zzr600) in a downpour so strong i had to pull over on the M4 because i couldn't see anything. I currently ride 600 k's a week commuting and night ride for fun, rain is just another part of riding.
I sold my car in sept 04 after deciding i liked my bike better.........

I still don't know what to put in the for sale add, but it won't be hasn't seen rain.
