Vic bike for sale without roadworthy cert

Just wondered if anyone could help me with some info please?

Was looking at buying a bike from VIC. I'm in NSW. However the bike is out of reg and has no roadworthy cert. Does this create a big hassle with rego in NSW?

Sorry to ask but I haven’t had much time to research this for myself and time is running out. Just thought somebody might have come across this situation before.

Thanks :D

You will still need a blue slip in NSW wether or not it is reg. in VIC. Best bet would be to have a VIC member check it out if they have any time even if it had a road wothy i don't think that it holds up in NSW.

Good luck!!

Should be pretty easy. Just a get a sale reciept, make sure evrything that should be there is, ie lights, exhaust etc. Take it for a blue slip, get new plates. simple.

Also have a read of this

I'd be a tad wary of bikes with no roadworthy... undersize disks and things can add up to a fair bit to get it roadworthy.

That's probably Melton South, in which case, ask Mina, he'll be able to tell if it's never been ridden cos he can compare it to his own bike :D

Be mindful though that as Smek says, if disks are undersize then that can cost a fair bit to repair, need new rotrs and they don't come cheaply..

Thanks for the suggestion. One of the vic members (very kind & helpful) is going to have a suss for us.

Yeh, we have checked into the $$ cost factor. Legs wants to use it as a trackie & possibly for post classic racing. So they'll be upgraded anyway.. Thanks for the feedback, its always appreciated.

You'll find that NSW doesn't give a shit about disc thicknesses and whether or not there's 45 degrees between the line through the tip of the rear mudguard and the rear axle. You wheel the bike up to a shop, a bloke in dirty blue coveralls goes, "Yup, it's a bike. Lights work?" at which point he'll scratch his arse, walk into the office and write out a blue slip.

They must do things slightly different here then. The guy who gave our two a cursory glance didn't take the time to scratch his arse.
