Pretty much everything now uses the flat style of plug. So go the flat one.

nothing.
sooner or later it will shit you enough to change it over to a flat plug or else you can buy an adapter for about $10
its not a major job to change plugs - i just did it recently on my car.
it took about 30 mins

You can get an adaptor, not very expensive, from repco or supercheap or autobarn....
Hope that helps..... If it makes you feel any better, its guaranteed that if you got a flat one you would require a round one at some point, and the other way around.... so its lose/lose/win/win

either change it yourself. I did one last week
or buy an adaptor

wellll....
every trailer/float/carrier you hire will have a round connection
so one end has to be a 5 or 7 pin
the car end (your car)??
whatever
Holden use the flat one and the round one (model dependant)
and Ford and the Europeans seem to use the round ones
and the Japs seem to use connectors that terminate
with the flat plug
so
buy an adaptor

i'm having one installed so i guess the round 7 pin will serve me well

i had a huge on on my ute when i bought it, i was so pissed off as it was big and ugle and they screwed the faarker through the back of the car (previous owner)
and no adapter fitted it, it was like one off a track with dog trailer,
so i re-wired it. quite simple in the end, except the 2 big holes!
