Z750 front end conversion to Gixxer 1000

OK Im loving the zed but the brakes are shite & the very basic suspension does not cut it so i am going to change things.
I have talked about changing fork internals but this does not fix the brake prob so an alternative needs to be found.
The 07 model could be a fix but I don't want a new bike... this is the next best option............
I have got in contact with a dude in Denmark Henrik who has done the conversion & what he has done is perfect for what I want + is tested / proven as a goer so & this will save time hunting for parts that fit.

The top triple trees are Z1000 stock
The bottom yoke is Z1000 machined 2mm bigger
Forks GSX-R1000k5
Original front wheel & axle with new spacers

This will keep all the original 750 gear up top with the Z1000 parts a straight swap & the reason for not choosing a Kawaka front end is that the look is more suitable & + the parts are more readily available

that looks GREAT mate, and if you didn't tell anyone, I don't know many punters who would pick that for a Gixxer one anyway.....

Shit the 750 will handle well with *that* conversion !! You could probably get away with the stock springs as well ?? (the 65kg jappa test pilot and all that ??)

How soon before its a goer ?

Will start shopping next week probably but because of the budget it will take a bit of time to put together ...... cant wait for those brakes but!!!

zx6r suspension fits, so does hayabusa forks (apparently)

and look there, they have a kinda database on which bits fit what with the Zs.

i wouldbt bother with the z1000 bits

Thanks Wattie I will have a look & BTW I havent committed yet so anything is possible.
I want to use the zed thou tripple tree as its a straight swap & the ignition etc is the same all bar the later models with imobilisers.
+ I want to retain the curent look the 750 has & the thou bits are the closest match, the Zed thou forks do not intrest me... the gixer gear is better at the end of the day.

Update:
Wattie a small alluminium bracket is required for the front fairing bracketmount & thats easy!

I have so far sourced a straight pair of shocks with calipers
Tripple trees including lots of other goodies still attached!

I have an engineer ready to make up the spacers from professional drawings supplied by henrik & CNC the bottom yoke.... I might start to pick up bits on the weekend

Looks good Rob.But how much will a gixxer thou front end cost???
Prolly more than the bike is worth.

To be honest i dont find the brakes that bad,especially since fitting braided lines,but the front suspension,yeah its pretty ordinary and the real piss off is having no adjustment.
You say that you put the gixxer brakes on too,what about the master cylinder?

Gixxer front end after searching through a few overpriced pair $700
Now considering I was going to spend that on internal parts for the original shocks its well worth it.
The brakes on the Z750 are crap! they just dont pull up! ... I have braided lines on this bike & to be honest they dont do much I have ridden bikes with good brakes & there is a mile of difference so much so I havent bothered to take the zed to the track yet as I just would not enjoy the ride knowing what the brakes are going to be like.
I can use the same master cylynder as this has been tested by Henrik & is fine not to change.

So at this stage the cost will be under a grand

What about head stem bearings,do you run the spewzukis,or the std kwaka ones,or is there a bit of mucking about?

As stated I will use Z1000 top & bottom triple tree's incl bearings as the Z1000 runs the same frame & has larger holes to accept the upside down forks so it is quote easy

They have a slight mark from the clipons on one side but I can turn that to the front so it cant be seen.... anyway it beats paying big bucks for perfection and they are dead straight & that's all that matters in this case.

Update: spacers are being made this week
Z1000 parts coming from this week from QLD
Forks will be picked up early next week
Its all coming together!
