Geocaching is a sort of treasure hunt using a gps

http://www.geocaching.com/faq/

Someone posts gps co-ordinates of a hidden cache, you find it, sign the log, you can exchange items that are in the cache, or just look at it.

They also have Travel bugs, which can be any item, but it has dog tag with a tracking number, and these go around the world via people visiting the cache's, and are tracked online.

There are 1425 of these in qld at the moment.. about 1800 in victoria, 2075 in NSW, didn't look at other states.

I did a search and there are 60 of these things within ten km of my house!

This is going to be fun :D

Had a friend in the US that was into it for a while, think the novelty wears off soon enough, not like ppl are burying large caches of money and posting longtitude/latitude...

We're pretty keen on geocaching, and like to combine it with weekend rides. It makes a nice excuse to stop every now and then. We've been doing it for about three years and haven't got bored yet, but I guess like anything else, it's horses for courses.

For anyone who's interested, I'd recommend taking a look at the Geocaching Australia website and if you want to see some of the bits and pieces you can buy, check out this Australian based geocaching store
