P-plate biker 'clocked at 220km/h'
December 27, 2006 11:47am

A P-PLATE motorcyclist has allegedly been clocked riding at 220km/h - 140km/h over the speed limit - on Sydney's north shore.

Police said the 28-year-old Roseville man had had his licence suspended and was charged with dangerous speeding and riding a motorcycle too powerful for a P-plate rider.

The man was allegedly riding a 1000cc Suzuki despite P-plate riders being restricted to a maximum of 250cc.

He has been bailed to appear in North Sydney Local Court on January 23.

Highway patrol officers said they stopped him in a 80km/h zone on the Warringah Freeway about 4.55am (AEDT) today.

SHit, I don't reckon there is a time I havn't gone over 200 every time I ride?????? :? Feel sorry for him. I guess his only real mistake was stopping!!!!

When my ZXR250 was stolen halfway through my L's (got it in October, 1998; it vanished from under the Barker Apartments at the Uni of NSW in January, 1999), I replaced it with a mutant FZR600 fitted with a Triumph Sprint front end and a GSX-R750 rear wheel. For the next year and a bit, until I got my full license, I was pretty much a picture of stealth... I definitely wasn't wicking it up past 200 on major urban arterials during double fly-bys at times when there was insufficient traffic to hide in. That would've been just stupid.

I don't think I have riden or at least owned a 250 in my life...Not for licence purposes anyway.

Zactly. Sounds like that is not the place for that kind of thing, should have gone way out of town. (to a race track like pfft) On any modern big bore 220kmph is just off idling and really feels like 100kph.

I thought 220 was shoot to kill speed.. only if you don't stop

I know a certain person/s who all looked like ghost rider kitted up on big black kwakka's all 1 meter apart that past a cop on a back road going the other way doing 270 (speedo) and just screwed it on (the noise would have been awesome), not only once either   Disco lights went on then almost instantly off, apparently

(Now kids please do not try this at home or at least on a 250cc)

Only been to Broadford, and the longest straight isn't long enough to reach those speeds. But it does lead into Crash Corner so wouldn't want to be going too fast anyway
