Double Demerits equals FEAR

For fear of this sounding like a thread off 'netrider', is anyone else curbing their riding at the moment due to the ridiculous number of cops and double demerit points over the xmas period?

I can't help myself on the bike so I am driving the car and spending time actually studying as apposed to doing hot laps around the neighbourhood.... (oh my, just as a write this the cops are flying down the road with sirens on-how funny).

I can't wait for the double demerits to finish so I can go fanging to wisemans and the old road.

Anyways, just thought I'd see if anyone else was taking a backseat for double demerits.....and I'm so damn bored

I've been road trippin' between sydney + brisbane during double demerits, very very hard to restrain that twitchy throttle hand... been lucky though, good folks flashing lights means sweet as a kitten when there are revenue raisers about... but to be fair, I have been riding more considerately, there's so many more drivers out that aren't used to bikes flying past at 13000rpm, screaming like cut cats, so I'm avoiding overtaking them in my usual style  -J.

...and we have a double demerit, of sorts, full time (in Qld) anyway.
Dotn know if it is Oz wide.
Anything 20k over is your normal points, anything within 2 years over 20k again is DOUBLE points but same cash. So two 20k's over in 2 years will mean no licence. I hear an awful lot of stories (some mine) where the VERY nice policeman has knocked it down to 19k over  IF youre not a TOTAL goose.

Being bikeless here in Perth is probably a good thing, otherwise it would be too hard to keep my licence at this double-flybuys time of year :|

Have only ever had 2 speeding tickets in 15 years of having a licence. I don't see double demerits as such a bad thing - I don't want any points at any time of year. I just keep my speeding to the right time and place.

I've had my license suspended 5 times in 7 years of driving. I can't afford to have it suspended again cause I need to drive for work. Hence my fear of double demerits. If I get lose any points im suspended again.. its a freakin tight rope. Thinking i should change my address to DARWIN, they have no demerit point system up there. How good would that be!

If i was you id be taking it real easy cause if your classed as an habitual offender and loose your licence again you will be walking for a looooong time
They will be disqualified from driving for 5 years unless a court rules otherwise (minimum 2 years). This will be in addition to any disqualification resulting from the third major offence.
The court may order a longer period of disqualification, including disqualification for life

WTF>>???

Draven is that pertaining to if you get nailed for excessive speeds or what? Cause I lost my license mostly for loosing too many points (lost 12 points on my P plates) and yeah most of it was all on my P plates on the car. I have bugger all points atm, but thats all just minorish stuff.

I lost it for a month due to 30kph +.... otherwise all the other suspensions were from points accumulation

Now I'm a little worried. I was just about to ride over to the girlfriends house on the bike-I think I'll take the car after all!
