Kawasaki Konquers Koree - Some New Photos

Ok its *conquers* and its *Coree*, but heh, how often do you get to put 3 K's in a thread title ??

Anyway, this is the story of the little Kawasaki that could......

I went for a blast out in the mountains today with my mate Pete and his R80GS - this was main reason I built this monstrosity, to go fanging with him along the open fire trails up in the local mountain range - The Brindabella Mountains.

Mt Coree is one of the highest in the range, at 1440m (approx), which is about 800m higher than the rest of the ACT....

The track there is your typical off-road single lane goat track, but it is a heap of fun on the 750.........belting along in 2nd gear, pulling wheelies off the erosion humps that are about every 50m or so :P

Today was the 4th time out in the mountains since the bike was built, it has had a few minor *teething* problems, but today it ran 100% ok........well apart from the last 100m to the summit of Coree

The photo that says 'Coree Summit Road' well the *road* is only about 1km long, but it is really bumpy and rutted and *steep* , and consists mainly of big pieces of granite (not much dirt between the granite, let me tell you...)

Well, with all the banging and bouncing off the rocks, the fuel frothed up so much in the float bowls, that I had to let it sit for 5 minutes, within view of the summit :x before I could finish the ride to the top.........

What a feeling !! This is a bloody hard piece of road on a good MX'er, let alone the frankenstein creation in the photos   Having said that, it does actually handle pretty well in the rough stuff. The front suspension could use heavier springs (they are Racetech springs, set up to suit an XT600...), but it really works quite well, all things considered...

There is nothing like launching a z750 off a 3 foot erosion hump, and getting max air !!!!  Its just *horn* let me tell you.... :P

The bloke on duty in the fire tower was glad of the company, and we shot the breeze with him for about 30min........fantastic view, but a bit hazy from the bushfires in Vic.... :( hope y'all are OK down there......

The ride down the mountain was even more fun  bottoming out the forks from *max air* jumps over the erosion humps, and sliding out of corners all crossed up

Its a bloody big handful, but it is a shitload of fun as well. That will be probably the *hardest* track we do, most of the time its big open fire-trails and dirt roads, pegging along at 120-140

So all in all, a really good day - Toy Run in the morning, and getting up one of the highest local mountains in the arvo.......its time for a Jimmy I reckon !!!!

cheers

That's a top Mx/tracker Gos
That front wheel must up in the air most times I bet
Have you though(I am sure u have) of leaning the rear shock's(top) forward abit maybe placing or welding new brackets with it,I did this on my old Mx'er it work a treat, specially on hill climbs & jumps when needed.
Otherwise it looks a treat 8) & a top day too :)

:D cheers all, I am really happy with it, from a concept to reality was about 30-odd hours ..... it will go through a few more mods over the next couple of months, basically to get it more like a MX'er and less like a roadie

That exact thought has crossed my mind on *several* occasions....... :P It would be a hell of a pit-bike !! Maybe next time......

yes, absolutely. The shocks were set up (spring rate), based on the top-shock mount being moved forward about 50mm, and lowered about 30mm.....this would give the rear end the off-road *look* it really needs, as well as allowing another 40-odd mm of travel. it works well with the stock top-mounts, but does not have the full amount of travel (yet) - 165mm......

I have some proper top-shock mounts that were donated from an old bent z650 frame that was kicking around, but I need to get the gussets *just right* before they get welded on. Its one area that has to be *perfect* as far as the positioning and welding is concerned. This mod I will probably knock over during winter next year, when the longer aluminium swingarm is fitted - proper MX style :P

Any members who drop through here over Christmas are *more* than welcome to take it out for some wheelstand practice !!!!

Not enough actual dirt bikes on the market for ya?? I know it's a little difficult to find an inline 4 but something tells me that there is a reason behind that  Be fun until it fell on you.
30 hours with Igor in the black t-Shirt  and you weel out of the shed blinking into the sunrise with that...
