Rider on a death wish

Ok this is the story
On the way home from work today, i was heading up the toll road exit to the Boltie bridge
if you know the exit off the westgate fwy you will know that it is a a long curving circle type 2 lane road
As i drive a Rodeo ute with large toolboxes on the rear i have limited vision and have to depend on mirrors 100%.
i was in the inside lane traveling at abot 80k with a car right next to me in the next lane, when some Fuc#wit on a motard/road-trail passed between me and the next car ..... ok i understand lane spliting in a straight line in traffic but on a tight curve in peak hour traffic
what gets into some people ......... on watching him travel up the road between cars breaking hard as he cut them off i just couldnt believe it

i can see why they wanted to ban lane spliting and with the amount on riders i see doing life threatening things lately i tend to agree it is a good thing
Last thing i want to do is hit a rider
i'm not saying all riders do this but a large number of the ones i've seen lately are an accident waiting to happen
so guy's and girls please think life's to short

Lucas gets down from his soapbox

Without generalising too much that's generally how I ride!

But seriously, I have witnessed much of these types of antics from the Mootard crowd. They for some reason, tend to bring the hooligan out in people. Having ridden a couple of mootards at various times, and even ridden my road regd trailie on the road, I can understand how it happens. Certainly not condoning it, just understand how easy it is to fall into the trap with them. One minute you are cruising along in traffic, then one stop for a red light later, you're wheelying off from the lights, stopieing back up to them, mounting traffic islands, launhcing over roundabouts and generally behaving much like the dickhead you described! They should ban em

I can also understand the mootarders frustration with all those tin tops ruining what is a good 160kph corner! But you're dead right, the loony should have chilled for this one run!

Ummm can get like that in trafic if your in a hurry and yeh if your not carefull you will eventually come to grief, I nearly ran over a pushy courier one day and i was doing a good 70kph between stationary cars and a concrete trafic island was a good time for a stopy as he decided to pull out between the trafic.

Hey if you didnt do it you may as well be stuck in a car.

I am a bit funny about big trucks i dont want to get stuck under a drive wheel and council busses because they dont back off for anything.

Had a interesting conversation with a girl that wanted too block off the gap down the middle one day she was a tad teritorial.

my argument to my snooty ex (who had issues with bikes full stop, even disliked me moving across to give a lanesplitter room) about lanesplitting was "they are going to stay in the same goddamn spot regardless of if i stay behind them or split past them.

queue rant about "waiting your turn" and my brain engaging the "on hold" music "a little span-nish bee" (blame the simpsons for this one, stole it from here)

went to eastern creek dragway on Wednesday for the Wednesday night shootout. There was one bloke on a late model gixxer 750 who had a long sleave shirt, denim jeans and sneakers. at least he had a lid and gloves!

oh and my "best effort" was 12.1 seconds @ 188km/h on the drags, pretty good for a first go on a new bike.

What is most annoying about the described situation is the fact that two cars, doing identical speeds are forming a rolling roadblock.

Overtaking should be simple... Move out, go past, pull back in.

Why do tin tops sit side by side for K after K holding up four lanes of freeway? Keep left unless overtaking, overtake in one swift clean manouver..

Oh, and stay outta my way coz I'm coming through

I have been up in Brisbane for 6 days and up there...that guy would be over dressed....lol...   Seriously...I saw heaps of people riding in shorts, thongs, t shirts, no gloves etc etc..good luck to them i guess...I'm not criticizing them, it's just something I wouldn't do, however I was amused that I only saw one guy with leathers on...lol  Must be acceptable practise up there...and they didn't lane split either????? I think I saw one bike...and it was a motardy thing...lane split but no one else did???

I came back to melb thinking that Brisbane peoples car seats are too far away from the accelerator!!!!! cause they certainly don't seem to be able to accelerate....I feel like I'm an evil reckless maniac compared to them

plus everyone drives below 60 k's !!!!! I won't be able to help myself up there..I don't think I have the patience to sit behind these slow meandering car drivers...it was like driving in a retirement village all day.....and whats the deal with those 4wd's hiding in the trees with cameras???? sneaky bastards...and I saw one m'cycle cop standing on the side of the freeway (which is only 80km/h????? wtf) with a radar..in the dark...

LOL!! Tack, I've lived up here in sunny QLD for about 6 years, and I have the exact thoughts as you do. The dude you saw in leathers was probably me, and the one bike lane splitting was again, probably me!
They are a weird bunch up here, exactly as you say, at least 20 below the limit in every zone! When I do exactly the speed limit in the car with my better half, I get yelled at for driving too fast!!

oh, yeah, and as for the topic at hand, I agree with the "get left if not overtaking" otherwise you'll definitely get a bike roaring past in a gear too low, a smidgeon too close to your open window!! :!:

This evening, on the way to pick up pizza, I saw a guy on a Harley Night Rod wearing an open-face helmet, black singlet, cargo pants and thongs. Oh, and he wasn't wearing gloves, either.

Do I win?

No. Gig does. And trust me, no one wants to beat her
