Yes, another bloody pom, I just ned to find a job/sponser and im on the next flight. Tho, easier said than done. Im a Construction Health and safety advisor, (currently working for a contractor on the "Underground") but my Qualifications are nor reccognised by Aus, Different laws and all that. So if anyone can find a use for me!..

You could probably do an equivelant qualification using some sort of long distance university..... You know... for OH&S...

OHS TRAINING COURSES AND TRAINING ORGANISATIONS
Who provides OHS training for workplaces?

OHS training is generally available from:

* State/Territory/Commonwealth OHS Authorities
* educational institutions eg TAFEs, universities
* employer bodies and industry associations
* trade unions & their organisations eg. State/Territory Trades & Labour Councils
* private OHS service organisations
* training consultants.

Others who may provide or advise on OHS training are:

* associations of OHS professionals
* technical or scientific organisations
* manufacturers/suppliers.

Training for licensed or certificated operations

Most OHS jurisdictions require that certain `high risk' jobs are only undertaken by suitably trained and `certified' or licensed operators. Scaffolding & rigging, crane and hoist operation, pressure equipment operation are some of these.

Training for these certificates or licences in most jurisdictions (State/Territories/Commonwealth) is provided by a trainer accredited by the OHS Authority; an assessment of the trainees is done by an assessor registered by the OHS Authority. OHS Authorities issue the certificates and licenses which are accepted in all jurisdictions in Australia.

The competencies (skills) required for scaffolding & rigging, crane and hoist operation, and pressure equipment operation are set out in National Occupational Health and Safety Standard for Users and Operators of Industrial Equipment (NOHSC, 1995).

National Guidelines for Occupational Competency Standards for the Operation of Loadshifting Equipment and Other Types of Specified Equipment (NOHSC 1992) sets out OHS competency standards for:

* loadshifting equipment
* specified types of cranes
* pressure equipment
* miscellaneous

Accredited and approved OHS training

Most OHS authorities require some types of OHS training to be 'accredited' or 'approved' by the Authority. This is often training specified in OHS legislation eg. training for workplace OHS representatives; training for users and operators of high risk equipment or plant. Either courses/training packages or trainers may need to be accredited depending on the jurisdiction.

Courses for professional OHS education

Surely you're not sick of chavs and other scrotes nicking your stuff all the time so you have to tie your bike down with a chain that could hold the QE2 to a wharf are you?

Or is it the lovely summer weather where if you sleep in you'll miss it?

And it couldn't be illegal immigrants getting put up in quality hotels paid for by your taxes while pensioners freeze to death in winter?

Seriously, I love it out here - I've got a great bunch of mates thanks largely to KSRC, and I can drink beer whilst cooking breakfast on the bbq wearing something akin to a vest and flipflops (singlet and thongs or something) and that's considered normal. I bet there won't be drive through Off Licences in England any time soon - and roads overthere anywhere near as good the black spur are probably covered in snow and sheep - not a good combination in anybodys books.
