I saw this tested in a documentary once..... it worked great..... they waited until the car was stopped at the lights, then disabled it..... (they had cameras inside the car to see the theifs face.... priceless)!!

would this lead to a discount in insurance?

(by the way, I am not doing it because if my bike gets stolen, it is on agreed price, and i could buy myself a newer bike)

minimum ten people it's $499 (supply and install, normally 599), that price is valid for two weeks, and we have to pay a $100 deposit per order

If we were to pay for tracking together it'd be cheaper(not possible) but as an individual it's $28 a month/299 a year/570 2 yrs/810 3 years

Looks good but a bit pricey considering the bike is on the older side of the fence, if it was new different ball game.

I used to have Quik Track on a my last car.
I had this service from 2000 to 2003 and thankfully i never had to use it.

Yeah it is pricey and the whole system at first glace does look great. Thats why i had it.
Yeah on cars there is a panic button and the idea that if your pride and joy is stolen that it can be found and remotly shut down is great but the system does have flaws.

The system actually runs off mobile phone towers. So if no mobile coverage yep you guess it the system is useless. All the theif has to do is drive/ride into an underground parking structure and its useless. Where do alot of vehicles get stolen? In underground parking structures.

I recall one day i was having a few doubts about the service so i tripped the panic switch. Guess what no one rang, no police showed up. so after about 10 minutes i rang them and asked what was going on. The reply was that my car was out of range. I said to them its in my driveway. They said you must not be in a good mobile coverage area. Checked phone and i had service. There reply was oh it must just be a black spot. This is when i was informed that it ran off mobile phone towers and not GPS satilites as i had been led to believe.
When i got the service i asked if the car would be covered where i lived and i was assured that it would be and to look at the coverage map it was within the coverage area.

Things might have changed but i would look real hard to see if what they spin you is fact or shit.


Back then i was with NRMA in surance and they gave no discount for having Quik Track. Why you ask, cause the Insurance companies know its not as good as it sounds.

I like how the Web page says they have been having a good year so they are discounting. Bullshit well does any company discount something cause they are making too much money.

Personally i would not use it again. Use the $36 per month you have to pay to have them monitor your vehicle and up your insurace policy. Cause end of the day you are still going to need it with ot without Quik Trak.

I have also heard that mobile phone can cause interferance eg no signal if someone is on the phone in the car. As Greeny said this was when they first came out.
