[NSW] IPB & SDRO merged?

I've had a run of foolishness recently and gotten a fine for driving a car in a transit lane a few days after my "high speed" indiscretion. Anyway i never recieved a reminder from the IPB (Infringement Processing Bureau) about my transit lane offence. Instead I recieved a recovery warning straight from the SDRO (State Debt Recovery Office). I then went to go to http://www.infringements.nsw.gov.au & http://www.ipb.nsw.gov.au and was redirected on both occasions to the SDRO payment website.

I scoured the web and have come up with very little info about this merger. The one thing that it does have me in a bit of a spin is it seriously reduces the time available to pay a fine. i.e. you used to have 21-28 days for the initial fine from the date of issue (from the cops) or from the date the fine was posted by the IPB(cameras), then a further 28 days for the IPB to send a reminder, and then another 28 or so days from the SDRO once the fine had been transferred into their responsibility.

It may not seem much, but if it happens to be this way for my transit lane fine, im a bit concerned what it'd mean for any more costly fines. I'm on a reasonable income, but still it's a hell of a lot easier to afford the fine & not have to live on beans & lentils for a while if i could factor in upcoming fines over 3 pay periods (im paid monthly) as opposed to one, maybe two pay periods.

Anyone else got anything further to add? or did i just get "lucky" and massively missinterpret this.

got busted on weekend 113 in 80 zone but i was nice and the cop was nice back :)

only did me for 100 in an 80 zone so i lost 3 points and $150 instead of 6 points, $350 and double demerits for next 6 months - i was happy that he was very nice about the whole thing

we can choose to pay off a fine in installments so its easier on the budget in qld.

For "repeat offenders" 21km/h or more over the limit. Pat's evidently been "done" before.

Qld Transport's take.

ironically pabs, i was tryin to be a good lad and stay off the bike for a few days. unfortunately they were policing the t2 lanes that day and didn't particularly give two shits about my reason for going in the transit lane (i.e. i was just trying to play it safe given i had been on a nightshift that night and it was epping road, i.e. farked at 7:30am :-(. ah well its paid now, so we'll see how it goes....

still haven't heard a whisker about the speeding fine though, hopin to hell i never do, though im not fancying my chances of that.

This happened a little while back Mike when the state gumment realised the IPB actually had no statutory right to administer enforce or collect fines. This all got zero coverage in the press, surprise, surprise. Where you stand if you had a fine and paid it I don't know although the issuing of the infringements was never in question.

Just another classic NSW Government stuff up.
