I had a bling aftermarket rego label holder on the back of the bike, attached to the rego plate. Due to three days of abuse it ripped off and pretty much wrecked my number plate.

Now is where it gets fun, got the girl at work to check it out, i can't just get another copy of that plate. If i do, I have to*buy* the rego number and it costs me $60

If i go and get a whole new rego number and plate it costs me $20

crazy..

I've since bought a cylinder rego holder, just haven't put it on yet..

replacement plates here are about the same cost, maybe even a bit higher.........you could get a local signwriter to knock you up a replacement ?...............like this one I had one knocked up especially for the Stone run in 1998

Bugger about that Tanya. I'm surprised it's only $60 though coz as far as they are concerned you are making it a personal plate, and they around $375 in QLD! :?

I photocopied the number plate on my old HSV ute, laminated it and used that instead... 8)

It was cause I had to cut a slot through it for the tow-bar to stick through...

The fact that it wasn't reflective and might not have been identifiable by a speed/red light camera was a mere coincedence.

I really do not see the need for rego labels these days, why do we still need to attach them when they radio it in anyway most times for a check and sometimes before they even pull you over?

Last time I was pulled over mine was not on the bike, the copper didn't even look for it. (prolly coz he was catching his breath from chasin' me)

I took my bike down to get inspected to take it off the written of vehicles register (I bought it as a repairable write off) Well I had to book it in told it will take approx 3 days. Cost me $330.00 for inspection nearly a week and still nothing. I have only ridden the thing twice for a total of about 15 minutes and I am getting sick of waiting so I can get it registered.

Still costs $30 or so for car plates here n Vic, less so for bike plates I guess. What has to be done Tanya is they have to remake your plate again rather than reach into a drawer and pull a new plate and number out, hence the cost.
