What do KSRC members do when they venture away from the safety of the garage when it comes to secuirty for their bike?
I noticed at the local bike shops and online a variety of gadgets and the sort.
From locks for the front disc to cables with padlocks that the A-Team wouldnt be able to pick.
When you guys/gals go away and stay at motels etc how do you secure your bikes?
Let the posts begin.

I use a disc lock but it only keeps the honest thief away .
Insurance is the key because if they realy want it they'll get it .

I use a 'Sting' alarm, has motion sensors & external sensors for accessories. Most useful thing is it has a panic button for finding your bike in a paddock full, with a range of about 100m.(Or just scaring the bejesus out of peeps round ya bike)

I park mine in a Locked garage, and there is a steel post in the garage in which i have drilled a hole through it with an INCH thick (no joke) steel cable with a big Phark off locking mechanism, where if u lose the key u will have to remvoe the wheel to get het bike, then a disc lock also with an alarm and imob.
I wouldn't mind a GPS for the bike also!

Whatever it is that you do keep doing it. In AMCN this month there's an article on bike theft which quotes the stats as 1 in 72 bikes in Australia being stolen each year, and it's increasing.
At home I have a motion sensor alarm in the garage, a floorlock with big chain and a disc lock. Away from home I use the disc lock but I typically don't take it anywhere where I can't see it
Watch out there's scum about.

insurance.
IMO there is no point me disc locking it etc in the garage cause if they bother to break into that then they are taking the bike no matter what i do about it. Insurance covers it either way (ive specifically asked about it)
if they cant get it they will probably just kick it over and F**k it up anyway so they might as well take it. I dont make it easy though. the garage is secure and usually the car is in the way.
if i am going away for any length of time i disc lock it etc.
when away on the bike i usually just disc lock it or park it next to a better bike

Its insured. I also have a non-krypto disc lock which goes on in any public place I dont have line-of-sight to the bike, along with the built in steering lock. I figure if its at least got some kind of visible deterrent, they will take the one 2 bikes down the line that doesnt.
I have an electric cable lock thingy that makes a noise that will make your ears bleed if you try to cut the cable. Thats for overnight trips that you cant stick it in your mates garage/carport/back verandah.
It would be easier if you could take the rotor button out......
