Mt Nebo / Mt Glorious

Not sure where to put this post really, so here goes...

Went for a ride up to Mt Glorious today and watched as the storm rolled over the mountain just south of where I was. Coming back down via Mt Nebo was an experience!

Post storm roads up there are not much fun. The storm had covered the road in debris & hail - I thought I was in the snow for a minute in some areas. Lots of people out checking their cars in Mt Nebo.

Shredded leaves, twigs and branches covered the road, and in some places the road was partially blocked by fallen trees.

Once back into The Gap / Ashgrove etc I then had to deal with no traffic lights (Until Hale St) trucks through fences and police everywhere. Must have been a wild one. Was nice at Mt Glorious :)

So if anyone is considering riding up there this arvo or tomorrow, take care.

Cheers & stay upright

Darren

you've just described Mt. Gee on a good day!

We went through on Monday morning, and you couldn't tell where the forest floor and the road met, just one solid "floor".... and there really wasn't any wild weather to speak of over the w/e...

cheers for the head-up though!

Hmm saw it coming and parked under a building at QLD uni, it was like being parked in a mist tunnel with 100+kph winds and i decided it was best to hang onto the bike to be sure it didnt blow over.

Jumped back on it when i thought it had blown over and then i started to get pelted by bits of hail so back under another building for a bit.

Was certainly a breezy one but on the way home from work tonight i near froze my tits off so there was a good bit of cold behind it.

went to a servicestation at 2am last night, wearing my summer jacket. Was a bit nippy, but not that cold.

Coming home from work this morning, light rain combined with the cold and i was freezing my ass off by the time i got home. Was barely able to put my foot down at the set of lights near my place (after riding 22km of freeways non stop).

Maybe moving it west would make it less dangerous???

Yes, actually. There'd be no hidden entrances, 'cos no-one in their right mind would put their driveways on a dirty big hill in the middle of nowhere. Less traffic and probably cleaner road surface would combine to make it safer. Oh, yeah, it'd also probably be legal to do much higher speeds, too - the national speed limit usually applies on rural roads.

Hmmm. This is reminding me of somewhere ...

Mate, no chopping would be needed. The flora's quite a bit different not too far west. :)
