these are at the 2nd Bridge on the way to Loberthol. They have been there since saturday Morning and have been there since we believe.

Keep an eye out!! I dont doubt they will be moving them around on the Gorge and possibly chain of ponds.

Slow down or lose your licence.

Wouldnt think they would have a long service life sitting like that, anybody could steal them and burn them or maybe in the other order burn them then steal them.

I like the system they have in nsw with all the warning signs it works for me and if they have a genuine blackspot just put them on the road every three kms seems to slow things down suitably.

I see worse things from people in 4x4s searching for thier mobile phone which is stuck under the seat drifting across and trying to run over me but aparently its less of a problem if your on a cop bike.

It amazes me that 'the powers that be' think that by hidding speed cams and giving people a ticket about 2 weeks later is making the roads safer! I would definitely be more receptive (ie. be more cautious) to legit patrols and permanent cams on legit black spots!!! and not sitting in places like the magic mile (Bris) 60km zone behind the bus stop getting people slighlty over the spead limit while going up a hill. We need a third eye to keep watch of the speedo.

I could go on but i'm sure all you have very similar thoughts!!!!

(rant over)

As annoying as legitimate patrols and all that are, they are a lot better for proactively slowing people down at the time they are acting stupidly.

Regarding these sneaky things, fugg that. A 4lb sledge through the lens and then make short work of the rest of the bastard.

Either that or just ditch them over the bridge maybe?
fuggin dog act if i ever saw it.

Wasn't there some clause in the placement of speed cameras stating they had to be placed away from metal objects? That could be a good get out clause.

They did a nice move in UK, where funds from speed cameras went to central government unless the camera was painted in hi vis colours, then the local cuntstables got a share. Amazing how many orange and yellow cameras appeared - but they're for saftey reasons not revenue raising, honest.

I guess the person who stop and took those pictures has already put the camera 'out of service' ? :D

There's something not right about this...

We don't have stand alone cameras. There is still a tripod one doing the rounds, but it's attached to a 4x4 via a cable. Can't see any 4x4 in that picture.

I believe it's also against general orders to hide a camera in such a way.

And finally, was there a "speed cameras save lives" sign up?

I'm still of the belief that speed cameras should only be used at intersections in conjuction with red-light cameras.

I'll look into this and see if I can find out what's going on.

See how there are two tripods?

The one on the bridge (near metal rail) i reckon is the radar - picks up the speed.

The otherone takes your photo from behind. There isn't enough room or straight road for a conventional camera setup in the gorge or chain of ponds.

A mate was up there (and got done) on the weekend and saw police possibly setting it up - he and the others were told to go away.

Im not sure if there was a "we just saved your life" sign anywhere

the covering up of the camera technically isn't illegal - they could say it was covered to insure it wasn't targeted and damaged seeing as its unmanned.

Also remember - the radar set ups are not police, it is an outsourced company who sets up and run them, if i owned the company - i'd spend alot of money developing new cameras such as this. could be a taste of things to come.
