here is a interesting bit of reading about riding fact versus fiction. It seems a bit biased towards america with some of the things on it, but still most of what they say stil holds good grounding.

1.Cars dont care about bikes (Be seen)
2. Loud pipes save lives (BS)
3-6.Helmet Crap (they save lives, simple)
7. Skilled Riders still crash (so THATS why they are called accidents

)
8. Lay it down (dont, it slows on the tyres

)
9. Drinking is bad HmmmmnOK (when you get there, get maggot)
10. Lane splitting is NOT bad (I see mirrors)
11. Safer on the highway than in the city (but no school girls)
12. ABS is better than Rossi. (But its on a Honda !!!!)

i still think the louder exhaust increases awareness a bit, was it someone on this forum or a website that said what are they going to notice, the noise of a buzzing bike, or a horn, which sounds just like every other car...

99% of the ppl will get out of the way of a roaring sportsbike
The 100th will back their car out of the driveway straight in front of you.

It's quite hillarious that there is still a debate the value of wearing a helmet

.
But then again that moon landing was fake

Can't say I'm especially surprised by any of those, and it's good to see them compiled in such a way!
It is interesting that they'd dare to go for the loud pipes myth - that's gotta be a touchy subject for a lot of people! Personally I wouldn't ever rely on someone 'hearing' me coming. As the article says, it's not often you actually hear a bike behind you while you're travelling in a car - it's only when they're passing/passed you that you notice.

AAhhh..
Let all the jealousy out boys, it must be eatin you up inside
BTW I do agree with the loud pipes save lives, but with the 4 cylinders you dont get much noise out of them even with pipes. There is nothing like a 650 trailie with a Staintune with the baffles out. You can hear em in the next suburb.
