VIC road policy

Man I hate (with a passion) the current revenue biased attitude of the VIC Labour government when it comes to speed enforcement, MC safety levees, parking levees, tolls and the rest of their road policies.

This is a real vote factor for me with an election coming up later this year. So I was wondering about the other guys position and went looking for some details. I found this document ...

http://www.vic.liberal.org.au/documents ... 20party%22

Now I have absolutely no allegiance to the Libs (in fact searched for this stuff because I am pretty much undecided) but I found it good to read what they stood for on this and posting it for any others interested. Also tried to post a link to the Vic Labour policy in the interests of fairness but could find one on the Vic ALP site.

And yeah, I know some of it will be "non core promises" and some of it will be "unnaffordable now that we know the real budget situation that has been handed to us" ... but that's the way the lying b@st@rds are allowed to play it these days.

It can't help to know a bit more about the choices though...

The MRA actually approached both parties last year sometime in an effort to help formulate policies that consider poeple other tha the car drivers, not sure what happened but if emmory serves me correcty they got some good feedback from the Libs and SFA from the ALP.

Never voted Liberal in my life and not sure I will come November but Bracksy's attitude towards motorcyclists when in opposition was all sweetness and light, soon as he came in power he did nada.

All the stuff in that report sounds great in theory, however I don't believe anything governments tell me anymore.

Who knows they might actually do it but no doubt they'll some other way to screw us over.

They're all lying, thieving, scumbag pricks who would sell their sisters to whiteslavers for the slightest taste of power.

That's what makes it so hard to choose one.

Fark you guys are wingers...

1. We do not pay any road tolls
2. Half of the speed cameras are facing the wrong way to catch bikes
3. You can park on the footpath anywhere in melbourne
4. they have motorcycle parking the centre of the city

The only bad thing is that you get a ticket IF YOU ARE COMMITTING A CRIME.

Registrations are only slightly more expensive than cars.... But we save that same amount in 3 weeks of riding instead of driving. And face it.... We do have a much higher accident rate than cars, it make sense that our insurance levies are higher.

I hear people like the MRA wanting motorcycles to be recognised as a legitimate transport medium.... If they succeed... No more parking on footpaths, all speed cameras would need to be set up to pick up motorcycles aswel, etags would need to work on bikes....

*rant over*

Like losing a foot is lucky because it could have been the whole leg.

Points 1 & 2 the government is trying to overturn and given the merest hint of a chance will do so regardless of the impost it places on motorcyclists.

3 & 4 were previously fought out and won by group action in the 80's (organised by the MRA actually).

None of this is by design of the VIC gov. The ONLY thing bad is that we get a ticket for a "crime" where other states are allowed tolerance in accordance with the standards allowed in the measuring equipment.

Handy earner though.
