Toll Passes

Post by Frank »

I got a toll pass about 2 months ago and had my bike and car linked to it. 3 weeks ago I went for a ride on the M4 on the bike with the pass in my top jacket pocket, yesterday I got a notice in the mail saying that I didn't pay.

I have spoken to the toll pass people and they cant/wont give me an answer about the best place to carry the pass when I'm on the bike.

So my question is where do you guys carry the your pass on the bike/person and find that it works.

I dont want to have to call the toll company every time I use a motorway on the bike.

Cheers

In my Dririder jacket I put it under the zippered bit on th top of the shoulder (where the shoulder protection goes). Works OK on the M7 and M5

it does not matter

our reps in Sydney have a problem with their tags all the time
if they work on the M4 or M7...they don't work on the bridge or the tunnel
If they work on the bridge..they don't work on any of the freeways

these blokes get up to 20 notices a month for non payment
on the bridge ..or the M7 ..or M4
and they are continually getting new tags sent to them.

don't have this problem in Melbourne for some reason 8)
GOTTA LUV the 12R!!

That sounds odd Smitty. I've had the Etag and I've now got one of the Roam ones and I use every toll road and I've had one letter in 5 years.
Particularly with the Roam tags they'll beep even if they're not mounted.

Likewise at work we have a mix of tags and with 50 cars we would be lucky to get a couple of notices per month.

Roam tags have plate matching for bikes, which means you do not have to carry a tag on the M7.(Just the M7  )

Supposedly Eway just started doing this too (thats what they told me last week, but I'd get that clarified).

They also said if you have an old-style motorcycle card you can put them in the back of your glove, or you can get a holder for the new tags from the RTA that go around your upper arm.

ohh yeah. when travelling through the gates you have to make sure the side that presses up against the window is facing up whilst in your pocket, or it wont read from my experience.

[slightly o/t]
With all this goings on about trying to start making the harbour tunnel electronic tagging only, its a load of ill thought out crap. (i'm just not that keen on having to get a swipe-card for the bike or get two tags at extra cost, i just wont have one tag swapped between vehicles, fark that, i'll end up breaking something). My reason isn't really a reason, more of a whine..

However my missus has a bit more of a valid reason. she has a leaseback vehicle through her job, one of the perks is she gets 100% personal use of it, which is pretty neat, except for the fact they are getting more and more hypo about the whole e-tag only thing.

She told me that all government vehicles aren't permitted to carry an e-tag "as they aren't the registered owner". One of her workmates has applied THREE TIMES for an e-tag and each time he has been sent an official governmenty looking letter stating that he isn't the registered owner and thusly isn't legally allowed to get an etag for the car, end of story.

This may be fine for work-only cars, but what about those like my missus who has no need for another car and just uses her work car? Just another bit of proof that this is a bunch of ill thought out hype that's going to end up fucking people over.

now where did i put that design for a flippy numberplate......

The thing is she works for the government and they have a policy of "no tags" for all government vehicles. Which is probably an anti "abuse" thing, but then again for those who have them as their personal cars as well, its a bit of a crock.
