Bike 2 Bike Communications

I’ve been looking into Bike2Bike communication for a while, and found most options are expensive, have features I don’t want and are fairly limited.

Reached a great solution today, quite by accident. We’re going on a road trip in September, and want 2-way radio between cars. Repco have a deal on such a set-up, so I went to get a pair. The cheap pair $49 had sold out, so I opted for the more expensive rechargeable pair. $120 got me two 40 channel radios with 4Km range. And to my surprise, they come with voice-activated headsets. I’ve not tested them yet, but don’t see why you couldn’t use them bike-to-bike. The radios are small enough to fit into a jacket and the headset goes into a crash hat ok. That beats the hell outta many specific $300 per bike kits.

As it’s a sale item, thought I’d post my findings post haste.

EDIT* for those who like fine details, Uniden uh043sx-2, comes with 2 radios, 2 voice activeted headsets, I twin desktop charger, 2 rechargeable battery packs, 2 belt clips and 1 AC adaptor.

And as an aside, I also got 2 bike covers for $35 each.

Dude! you could have borrowed mine! I bought a set a while ago...

Unfortunately they were a complete waste of money....

We had massive trouble with the voice activated mics.... These were voice activated throat mics.... They were really unclear when used on a bike (fine without the bikes)....

Oh, and the supposed 4km range.... PFFFFFFF... more like 500m IF THAT.... (once again, without the bikes and the helmets they worked much better).

Hopefully yours will work better..

Let us know how the go Mike, we group purchased the uniden 2watters that are recommended by Autocom when we got our setups last year, Cost us about $500 a bike but has all the whistles & bells.

Also could you take a photo of the fitting on the CB radio that the mic etc plugs into. thanks.

Sort of - hid one in the fruit bowl, went into the shed and used the other to ask if dinner was cooked. It didn't go down too well  We're going on the bikes together Thursday so will test them bike to bike then
