Wheelies... power up or clutch up?

Ok, lets have it out on a new subject
There's been bits and pieces written every where on here, but lets get all out in the open in one spot, once and for all.
I looooove wheelies.
On flat ground with a full tank with the stock final drive, the 7r struggles to power mono. Use a lower final drive ratio and half empty tank, piss easy.
Using the clutch with stock ratio's, I can get up any time I want up to starting speed of about 80km/h.
Out of a desire for consistantcy though, I use the clutch all the time.
Some say that power mono's trash chains, sprockets and cushy drives.
Other say the clutch wear is too great and it dumps all the rubbish from the clutch in the engine oil. Over 40,000km and still on origional clutch. Done a couple of fork seals tho.

I haven't come up with an answer yet.

What do you guys and girls all think?

You need the bounce method there too Matty, it enables you to power it up in 2nd so you don't have to change into 2nd if you powered it up in first. I have only done accidental wheelies and really need to get out into the local industrial estate to have a real go. I would prefer to power/bounce it up as the clutch is too unpredictable. I suppose if you knew your bikes power it would be ok.

Im lowering the gearing on my ZX7 next time I need new chain and sprockets so hopefully power wheelies will be happening then.

i dont do clutch wheelies, no need with the zx9. she comes up easy enough without it :D

85K on the original clutch, been trough a few chains tho, then again i usually get 25K out of one........

i usually manage to get it up at least once every time it comes of of the shed.....

the couple of times ive done it have been by accident, where I've reverted back to my 250 instinct and clutched it...

I havent really played with it to see how easy the tl power mono's

I couldn't find the "I use both methods" option.

I power wheelie up in first, and if my timing is on song find I can click into second without too many dramas. Clutchies in first are a tad scary!!

The ol' ZX6 wont jump up in second off the power, so I clutch it in second. 50 to 140 odd happens really quick when you're on the back wheel!

I prefer 2nd gear clutchies to 1st gear anythings... the throttles less sensitive and it's easier to keep it up.

I have got a mate with tha TL1000R that thing mono's like a madthing posessed, just blip the throttle almost anywhere in first gear (with it in gear) and that front is coming waaay up no worries, its a 1000cc twin, thats what they do.
