Hi all
Is it feasable to do a day trip for race day? I am on the zero blood alcohol on my bike and don't really want to stay overnight if I can't drink! It's normally about 1 hour 15 mins from here to the track, but I've never been on race day so don't know how traffic is or how parking is for bikes etc.
Cheers

Make an overnighter of it mate. Get sloshed with the crew sleep it off and leave the next day on your 0.00 blood alcahol level. Lot's of people stay until monday arvo. i think they run a trackday the next day aswell.

Mark
I usually go down for the day on..Saturday
wave at the crowds in Crannie
and enjoy the ride down with the other riders
...thousands of 'em
and watch it on teev on Sunday (if I have time)
Its a dawdle from Hampton
leave home at 09.00 at the circuit
around 10.30
or join the GP run leaving Crannie at 10.00
with MotoGp though, you get to leave yr bike in the
special parking area just past the circuit entrance
(unlike the Supers where you ride in and park anywhere)
hth
cheers

Thansk Smitty. I've done the same for the F1 before - watch qualifying and TV the race.

mate even on a bike, leaving the track alone takes abt 2 hours...and ur clutch hand will be rooted!!
if ur doin a day trip, allow ALL day.... get there early (like 8ish) so u dont have to line up all day...
dont expect to be home before 6pm..

Always a daytrip for me, and this year we'll go the long way round (sth gippy - Korrumbura - Poowong - PI). Additional 0.5hr but better than droning the hwy

mate i did the sunday two years ago on the bike.
Its not a bad trip but u'll be knackered by the end of it. The only killer is the traffic heading back to melb.

I will ride Sunday (the race) -- if not raining. Need to leave early enough maybe 06:00 or 07:00. Will be looking also to do the backroads on the way bike as droning the highway with the sun upfront is a real pain.

How is the parking ... are the bikes safe from thieves taking parts or worse the whole bike?

so Andi
dumb question
pre purchase ticket or on the day
god i hate ques and bad weather !!!!
i suppose race finishes about 4.00pm
and then another hour or two back to cranbourne or
do you have another alternative route
im just trying to figure out best options at the moment
and only guessing that there will be 50 speed cameras
every 10 kms and travelling at 90ks
