this would all depend on her height

as most dirt bikes are tall even at 5'9 i have trouble on most bikes

Get her a "Neka" , real easy to ride , no experience required and an absolute Bike .

Expensive , but from what I have been told , worth every cent .....

Yeah, but I reckon she may like something different. Everyone has ridden a Neka for gods sake!!!!!

Plus they are a sloppy old barge. They are 25 kgs overweight, colour choice is limited, they are very unreliable apparently, blow loads of smoke, are high maintanence, chew threw rubber quickly but often reuse the rubber on a few different roads  , Consume a lot of fuel, make a lot of noise, are anti social, and are very obvoiusly just cop bait!!!!!  Plus servicing costs are horrendous and you will never ever get anyone to trade it in when you have finished with it!!!!!

My first bike was a Honda Spada and they are a great, reliable little bike and excellent for building your riding confidence, which is important for a learner.

I've never denied it :?

Honda or not, it is a great little bike, very easy to repair and find parts for, great for reselling and a demon commuting through heavy traffic

Yeah, I'd second this, top little bike the spada, I bought one about 5 years ago as a commuter, a few friends also used it to learn on, low seat height and no expensive fairings to scratch and decent go for a little bike.

As Glen said, chookies tend to be pretty tall, not the best for confidence if you can't easily touch the ground with both feet.

Cheers

I got a 1979 AG100 (yeah its a yammy but it is green!) to dirt ride on, just to learn control and such - eg skidding :D . Unfortunately it required some maintenance and is still not "going" but I did ride it once round wetlands.
If your gf is like me and not had much/any experience with bikes and wants to learn how to ride before going for L's (I think you said that in your post) then something like mine is great, not much power so dont get scared by acceleration, no way on earth to pull a wheelie.

I got mine on ebay for $250, but did need head and base gasket (not easy to find), piston rings and the tank needed cleaning, new fuel and oil.

i just got my 250 licence on the weekend and they used honda cb250's seemed like an alright bike was alittle gutless but then again if ur learning u dont want somehting that will do warp speed.
i was used to the bike with in 1 hr of riding
its very upright seating position and easily 2 feet on the ground with some bend (im 5'11")

ZR250/Balius would be my choice, I had one, absolute blast to ride and I do miss it at times, light, naked and still pretty quick for a 250.
