Thats fine jonno, but in this case, we were putting along in a 80k zone well under the limit, hence no speeding fine, when they just walk out on the road and pull every bike over. and yes it was around lunch time, thats why we were going to the marysville bakery, for lunch and coffee, which i beleive is all ok and legal..........
And more importantly, to give some trade to the town, allways loved marysville, used to often stay overnight, before the fires, so i felt a great deal for them, and what they went thru....

I am still of the belief that the tactics currently employed by the police in terms of the motorcycle blitzes in the Yarra Ranges is out and out harrassment and is also discriminatory. I am also of the belief, that I as a citizen, should have the right to go about my business without being pulled over 5 times or more in one ride. That is what really gets on my goat. The guy who used to sit at the top of the Reefton was a M/C officer from Moorabin. He was a cracking bloke. He really was a nice fella. I should know, I got pulled over by him over 20 times. There were some rides where I would be pulled over no less than 5 or 6 times on a ride for a "Random" check.

So two things. 1. The guy sitting at the top of the Reefton, eventually got me fired up enough to tell him to leave me alone or I would file a complaint to the ombudsman. He KNEW who I was, he KNEW my bike, he KNEW my rego and licence numbers almost off by heart and had them recorded in his note book more times than I have had hot dinners. So the last time he pulled me up, I politely asked him not to pull me over again as I would file a complaint. He claimed he was doing his duty. I replied with "You know who I am, you know my licence and bike are clean, you have my details listed and can check them in 3 minutes and come after me if I have committed and offence in the last week since I saw you last. So fuck off and leave me to enjoy my ride." He actually agreed. As I said, he's a good guy. (Small londe headed fella if you run into him, treat him with respect as he does to us.)

2. A deliberate targeting of a minority group is in my mind discriminatory. You can talk about riders being over represented in the road toll, but is that due to them being bad riders for the most part? Or is from being taken out by cagers or poorly maintained or signed roads. Either way, in my mind it is complete and utter discrimination. How can a law enforcement officer have the right to pull me over for NO reason????? What right do they have to do that?? I don't believe our constitution was written in the spirit in which it is metered out by law enforcement in Australia.

I have a good mate who is a senior. I have known him since 1995 when I would him a new ZX6R and we have remained friends ever since. Even he agrees with me. He hates how it has become now.

Dutchy, as I said in an earlier post, your best off staying stumm. You can't win mate, no matter how much of a good old fashioned common sense officer you may be, a portion of your organisation has unfortunately tarred you with there brush and you know why as you have probably had to deal with one at some point from either side of the fence Don;t get defensive in here though mate, it will only end with people slinging shit. I reckon yr better off keeping it to yourself and not allowing bias to influence people's replies to you.

The part that I find sad is that this town is been stripped of trade, last time kazz and i went up there, we stopped at lunch time, and we were the only bike parked up, what have these people done to be stripped of trade... fuck the town is still only a third rebuilt, they need our trade, 3 years ago on any givin sat or sun there would be a hundred bikes there, what sort of money did that bring into the town, compared to now??? do they like this??? i bet not.
Go to kinlake, its thriving again, why?, ive been thru there a hundred times, and never been pulled over there... maybe their something in that???
AT the end of the day, the defects gone, and i wont be going back... so marysville suffers... As most now have the same view.

I don't go singing it from the mountains, but it isn't exactly a big secret either.

I've gotten far more involved in the last couple of police related threads than I normally prefer. I don't know why. I'm done with this one now anyway. I'll fall back into my little hole and get back to posting kawasaki girls.

Even I know the po po harrass the shit out of black and reefton and most places coming to and in between, you cant say you dont know or not know that being pulled over is highly likely on certain days even random days as it has been happening for at least a decade.

Anyway besides other great roads to ride in vic i do think the idea is to harrass the bikes enough to not go there illegally and if you do plan for an extra 1 hour for a chat with the enforcement, the harrasment apparently is working and that is purely for your safety decided by statistics as dead people cant support businesses, stop speeding and crashing and they will as a whole stop pulling everyone over. Like thats ever gunna happen there


But there is a but........

Being a born and bred vic and having returned many times over the years I do notice the police to be very active and over zealous compared to other states, every state has good and bad HWP, vic has probably the worst being over the top but I have to bite my tongue when I have met a NSW HWP officer and how the present themselves, no sense of humour and very blue oyster indeed

Well i beg to differ again jonno ive been here since 97, and have been riding up there ever since, and ive never copped a ticket around there,,, ever.. a few defects yes... two for as stated, one for a legal, but in his eyes bald tyre.

and most of that was well over the limit....

Its funny to observe that the only guys that bring their jobs onto this, lets be honest, forum thats a bit of fun for everyone involved, is the coppers..
