cheers mate. Yes it looks a heap better than that baby-blue. It should look a lot tidier once the frame & motor have also been painted.....although I am still thinking about running the engine with just a plain alloy finish ? Olds cool

Soda blasting?
Could match the wheels, you can only try it and then paint it if it doesnt work.
Interested in plain alloy finish for one of my projects (clean up barrel/head/carb body - oem look ) and havnt decided which way to do it although the soda looks safest.
I did see you bead blast? tumble? some carb bodies once? that looked cool .

yep, all the brake parts from a few bikes were done up at a place in Sydney - the backing plates for a couple of bikes, and the drum hubs for this 250/3 and also the mighty H2 hubs all were done at the same time. If you check the blokes website - he currently has pictures of my stuff up there as examples of how his method works on bike parts
its a slow low-impact wet tumble process, which uses a different medium altogether than any *blasting* process. It uses really small ball-bearing sized medium of all different shapes - cubes, diamonds, all sorts of weird little shapes. The parts go into this big donut-shaped tub and the whole lot slowly rotates with a lubricant to keep things moving smoothly. A few hours in here and the parts come out *immaculate* .
The small pieces get right into things like cylinder fins etc - and the surface treatment is permanent. If you get oil or dirt on the surface it will clean off no probs - unlike some surface treatments which stain if they get oil on them......its called Mass Finishing.
Here is the website
see all those bike bits on the right ?? All mine

Bike looks great Gosling!
That mass finishing stuff looks incredible too. I wonder if anyone in Adelaide does that kinda work. I'm thinking of cleaning or shining up the side covers on my little 100 while the engine's apart but can't decide whether to get them blasted or painted or just buffed up.
