here is a pic of the three bikes I rode this afternoon (one of course being my own)

ZRX (not sure which year) - I was a little apprehensive about this, especially when I hopped on, heaved it off the side stand and didn't have my feet very firmly on the ground! The boys took off in front and then I took off, promptly up to 160 and I felt like I was sitting in an armchair facing into a wind storm  I have to say that I really enjoyed riding the Rex though - I had quite the grin in my helmet. Whickle had pulled up at the turn onto Uriarra Road and I asked to stay on the Rex for a bit more - and it felt good on Uriarra Road! Went through the bends really nicely and smoothly. Reminded me a little of my old Er-5 (but on like super steroids!!). I loved it and one day when I'm rich I think the Rex would be a great second bike... but not the bike for me right now. I can see why everyone likes them so much! :kuda:

I should really change the title of this thread to "Mel's a Bike Whore" :kuda:
Mel you only need to be rich when you own a Rex when you start buying your obligatory and compulsory necessary bling, then you can attains ZRX Whore Status like our beloved Road Captain ;) ;) Have fun choosing :D , by the way I am no way biased at all towards ZRX ownership

And today I rode an 06 GSXR750 and an 09 ZX6R.

I went to CMC Mitchell to try and ride their demo of the GSXR 750 - I'd promised my mechanic that I would ride this bike before I bought the ZX6R. They had sold their demo though... oh well... off to CMC Fyshwick to have a good ride on the demo ZX6R. Turns out they had a second hand 750 so I took that for a ride first. headed out up the Monaro - felt good. Turned at Lanyon Drive, took it easy through the roundabouts (this bike is still on it's original tyres  ) and just as I sailed past the Caltex the fuel light came on. Now I know nothing about Suzukis so no idea on the reserve. So I thought about just heading back to the shop but I didn't want to get off it yet so headed to another servo and chucked $5 in the tank. Geared up... and the bike wouldn't start. "ticktickticktickticktick" fkn flat battery. Well it's not mine so I ring CMC back and Seb says "oh I'll have to come out and bump start it" awesome cuz while I know the theory kind of, I've never actually done it. But I'm in Queanbeyan and only have a vague idea of where I am... Seb is a northside boy as well so no idea where he is going... eventually after about an hour he found me and got me going and off I went. I really liked this bike (just was real careful not to stall) so headed off over towards Oaks Estate and through the couple of bends there then around the roundabouts near the airport... FUN :kuda: I liked it to mucch I decided to head over to my mechanics on the other side of town... where they all laughed when I hopped off the gixxer (and Bruce says "who told you to ride that piece of shit?") Bruce gave it a good look over, told me it wasn't the model he meant, but it seemed in good nick. So back to Fyshwick with a grin a mile wide.

Pretty much hopped straight onto the ZX6R (it's an orangey red colour, looked great with my pink jacket hahahaha) and did the same loop minus the trip out to the mechanics. And it was really fun too. But I found myself preferring the GSXR which I REALLY wasn't expecting  The 6 was smooth and felt really good through the corners. the suspension was a lot harder but it only has 400km on the clock.

06 GSZR 750: position felt pretty aggressive but in short order it was good :) Footpegs are annoying as shit (the ends kinda kick up and annoy the bottom of my feet). Good power :D didn't have the same ease of super-speed that the 1000 had but who wants it to all be too easy? Has a Yoshi pipe on and I was surprised by how quiet it is. Suggestion was made of cutting the pipe in half!!

09 ZX6R: one of the first things that I noticed was the positioning... the pegs seemed quite low! And I felt that straight away in the arse - I felt like I had a lot of weight on my arse (I always said on my 636 I had the perfect ratio of weight distributed between wrists, arse and legs) It wasn't so bad when I had my toes on the pegs like I usually do but when I had the arches of my feet on the pegs I really noticed it. the 6 was sooooooo smooth and the gearbox just felt beautiful. It pulled pretty good, and I never really thought that I would think the 6 was lacking in power but I kinda felt it did. It was a nice bike to ride and I really like it but.... I think the GSXR750 is a winner  :D

Surprising knowing this lot that you would put that much ammunition in one sentence

Mel, do some sniffing around before you plonk your dough down on a Gixxer 7fiddy. I have a mate in Sydders who has had no end of trouble with his, including two trips to Suzuki Australia in Melbourne to try and fix a surging issue!!! They still havn't fixed it. According to him, he is not alone either, with lots of owners experiencing this issue???? According to him, you open the throttle coming out of a turn, only for it to suddenly surge forward way quicker than intended. This particular guy is a very competent steerer. When we ride together, he is right there with me, if not in front and has loads of miles under his belt. So his opinion is valued. He hates riding the thing now as it has tried to spit him off a few times mid turn, when the thing comes alive for no reason!!!!

what model is your mates Strika?

How about a turn at Supers Mick? :P

did someone mention the "D" word? No? Well anyway at the Snowy Ride, in addition to the usual Honda bikes they also had Ducatis this year. One of them was really pretty. I even sat on it. But wouldn't buy it. I want to spend my money riding it, not maintaining it!! :D
