I didn't, just as a matter of interest.

Gos, as MadKaw says, it's just a storm in a teacup. NBD. I sorta started that as, "Dave, as Dave says ..." - didn't look quite right for some reason.

Neil, I've been trying hard, but I can't think of any fracturing of the club in Qld.

Anyways, I'm through for now. :D

thats exactly right Vince, I would guess that maybe 3/4 of the 'organised' rides would be Level 2, which will cover most normal punters. We could fine-tune the levels a bit more, but basically I think everyone would understand the concept OK in its current form.

Then you get the great advantage of newbies who can 'graduate' to Level 2 rides, and level 2 riders up to the occasional Level 3 ride.....its just managing the issue, ensuring that rides are posted, and all punters are aware of the type of ride they are going on.

  :? :? :x :x

Or are we gunna have "A" Grade "B" Grade etc.

"I'm sorry but we can't ride today with KSRC cos I don't qualify for this one..."

Are the "A" team gunna let me know if I'm ok to socialise/ride with them?

What a load of hyped up hogs piss, just because of a simple question of duty of care and it amounts to segregating (spell) rides.

Shit it happens here in Vic. PM'd rides and events occur here, to weed out the obviously unwanted... Shit Happens, karma is a bitch.

POST the rides and ride to your ability. HELP those riders who need it.

If ya don't like someone that's on the ride, don't talk to them. Don't fuck up KSRC because you are a Dog and wanna bitch all the time.

And Lastly... SHUT THE FUCK UP... I need a drink.

Me and Dan were talking about this today and without going down the graded ride scenario, we did think a dedicated, beginners or training ride every so often is a good thing.. Open to all but the pace will kept down...
The last thing we need is the inexperienced coming along to a "quicker type ride" not knowing what they are getting into and try to push it to stay with the more experienced... Its all a learning curve...

Its open to comment though...

I thoroughly agree with what our administrators have suggested here, however for the sake of club spirit and the newbies these rides should be posted, not just offered to a select few!
And although i am not a mechanic by trade I am prepared to put my hand up to help newbies with general mechanical maintenance as well as providing the venue, and tools!

I dun see a point on grading the rides.

I go on almost every ride(in QLD), there are always the fast, faster and fastest riders.

I'm always the fast rider(and always the last in the pack) and that doesn't bother me at all, becoz those guys will wait for me at the next intersection. This style has always worked with the QLD crew.

We r organising rides, social rides, not track days. Shouldn't all riders be allowed on all rides?

I would say the same as RG just appoint a tail end charlie and i know it can be tedious and if they are infact slow and wobbley they wont be left behind.

But as the thread originally said this rider was trying to go balistic beyond there ability, I used to do rides with the cbr250 forum on a cbr250 of course and you would have the younger generation turn up in droves like 18 cbr250s or something.

well strangly enough i wouldnt be the fastest rider and the bikes varied in terms of maitance from fresh everything and its been with one owner for a year and loved to found it out the back of my uncles shed and cleaned out the cobwebs.

welll the guys that got there licence 3 weeks ago but are riding on 4 year old arrowmaxes and the steering head bearings are rooted as are the fork seals fall off when trying to keep up with the blokes on the bling mobile with fresh tyres and a rider who knows the bike....used to have one per ride bining it so they stopped posting open rides.

So there you go big tez you can spot them before it starts just look for the bike with 3 year old tyres and a new pilot and lube coming out of the forkseals/shockie shaft and nana them because if you dont i will have to. :D

Its all a part of riding and darwins theory applies to some riders.

OK, I know I said I was done, already, but ...

Neil,

The whole point is that the unposted rides WERE/ARE NOT KSRC rides. They merely involve some people who are members who knew each other before becoming members. Nothing more, nothing less. They are not "Brett's nanna rides for KSRC newbies." THEY HAD/HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CLUB. Brett hasn't taken it upon himself to be the tutor of all newbs, regardless of what you may think or have been told.

I certainly won't be posting rides I take with my brother if/when he finally gets around to getting his licence. How is this any different?

I honestly applaud your offer of assistance to where you are able. Good on ya.

Everyone,

I'm not a fan of segregating rides, either. However, I can see a great benefit to the newer riders if there are rides specifically for the slower riders, as MadKaw has suggested. Couldn't have put it better myself.

RG,

C'mon, mate, you know I'm usually slower'n you!

hmm i didn't pm madkaw either :D

i can't see Hammer teaching newbies how to ride, he never took took the time to help me so i don't see him doing it for anyone else.. (and no that's not bitching it's just stating a fact)
As for greenmeanie.. that'd be his call to make, not him being nominated by others.

I've seen so called *experienced* riders do some damm stupid things on rides. One of them in particular is an accident waiting to happen, it'd much rather be in Brett's company than theirs.

So what if Brett has rides outside the forum? he's never signed anything i'm aware of that he's legally bound to post anything? I go for rides with other groups.. does this mean i have to post them here too?

If I have to edit or delete one more post from this thread, it will be locked.

Grow up.

If people want to go on rides with other people, let them. If they don't want to post rides on the forum, then stiff shit, that's their prerogative.

If someone, anyone, with a level of experience wants to help newbies learn to ride, then make the offer. If you don't then don't abuse those that do. If it keeps those new to motorcycling alive, then I'm all for it.

We can't all get along. If we did, the world would be a boring place and the nightly news would be filled with those crappy stories about firemen rescuing dogs from drains. But, the least we can do is go on rides with those we have made our friends, and quietly avoid those that we dislike.

Get over it.
