The saga continues

After getting it home, going for a ride when it ran fairly well , albeit still with an infrequent miss down low I changed the oil, filter and tried putting a stock air filter back in. It warmed up and then run on 2 cyl's ie 1 and 4. Shut it down, changed the air filter back to the K and N, still did the same thing. Would fire up and when it got hot back to 2 cyl's

As per my other thread on coils I thought OK it's the coil for Cyls 2 and 3,(pipes both cold). Changed coil, no difference.

Hoff picked me up some plugs, put them in on Wednesday night and hoopla....she fires up on all fours and runs like a pearler. I'm thinking happy days problem solved. Shut her down and put her to bed.

Went to fire her up last night and shit..........dead on Cyls 2 and 3 again ......WTF is going on. I almost guarantee if I put new plugs in it will fire up fine again. But what the hell can cause two brand new plugs to foul pretty well straight away.

At this stage I'm thinking possibly the guy at C and M has totally fucked the jetting, although he seemed to know what he's on about. I'm planning to go back to a standard Dynojet Stage 1 kit as recommended by Muzzy with settings that I know work ie as per Phils ZRX and while I'm at it check everything in the carbs.

If that doesn't work I'm thinking I'll park it in Redfern with the keys in it

Check the air gap on the ignition trigger and if its a twin trigger system system you may have a trigger issue for 2/3 .

Also if its overfueling in the center 2 cylinders , wetting a modern plug especially NGK's will kill em

Take a photo of the plugs glen :)

Id be pulling carbs apart and checking :) depending on air box setup sometimes the centre two cyls have slightly bigger jets if the air is easier to get there (again this depends on airbox setup) maby there to big????

When it only runs on two cylinders is there spark on the others?

Thanks guys.

I'm onto a guy on the ZRXOA board (Kwick) who's running through it with me as well.

So far we've come up with

1. Throw the K and N away and go back to stock
2. Check everything to do with the airbox
3. Put the snorkel back on the Airbox
4. Pull the carb's off, clean them and put a Dynojet Stage 1 kit in it.

If that doesn't work then go the electrical route.

Note sure re the ignition Billy. I'll check it out though

Cheers

Kinda what I said to Glen on the tellingbone. I reckon it's been jetted too rich and is wetting the plugs. But, what would I know.

Yep looks to be running richer On 2 n 3, if I remember correctly u said its more apparent when it's hot?
This is only how my brain works, but..... If it started ok after new plugs then played up a bit when warm, then was a bitch and didn't run on all 4 after the plugs have been heavily sooted.
Id be going for the Carby glen, if the original air filter don't change anything then I'd be looking at needles and jets. Also mixture screws :)
When it runs on all 4 does it run well?
