Ty, the real question is - how do you know if everyone is typing crash just so they can see it automatically changed to crash? Maybe everyone is typing crash instead of crash to make people think they've typed in crash, when really, they've typed in crash.

I was just reading an article about the company who owns the rights for "Godzilla" and found this statement quite interesting:

"As a trademark owner, one of the requirements is to police your mark to ensure that it does not become generic, that it does not become a common word for any fire-breathing monster," says Aaron Moss, a Toho attorney in Los Angeles. "If you don't, the trademark becomes devalued and hard to enforce."

We should ban the word Godzilla, and automatically change it to "Nissan Skyline GTR".

Its an interesting point...... the reverse is also true...

In some cases companies trademark sayings that are already in use in common speech.... For example the term "Ugg Boots" was trademarked by an american company who then went about sueing every australian company that used the term... In the end they lost, but the small aussie company defending the term spent a long time doing so... without help from the aussie government (damn you John Coward)..

Think about the brand "Bad boy"..... They are very litigeous (they will take people to court in a flash) ... I mean the term "bad boy" has been around for decades, if not centuries... but they trademarked it and will take you for all you have if you use the term to sell anything.

Check this out from their website....
"Bad Boy®, Bad Girl® and Life’s A BeachC are registered trademarks of Platypus Wear, Inc. dba Bad Boy Brands.
