Ty, the real question is - how do you know if everyone is typing crash just so they can see it automatically changed to crash? Maybe everyone is typing crash instead of crash to make people think they've typed in crash, when really, they've typed in crash.

I was just reading an article about the company who owns the rights for "Godzilla" and found this statement quite interesting:

"As a trademark owner, one of the requirements is to police your mark to ensure that it does not become generic, that it does not become a common word for any fire-breathing monster," says Aaron Moss, a Toho attorney in Los Angeles. "If you don't, the trademark becomes devalued and hard to enforce."

Can we change the Word Crash to "doodle Juice" please ?.
All this talk of crashing, in the off season no less, can't be a good thing ?.

May I Suggest a Competition to come up with the BESTEST word/words to Replace "Doodle Juice Quok Jockeys" with ?.
Shit that was Quick !!!!!!!!!
Seems Dave3 has a slow day at work again :twisted:

We should ban the word Godzilla, and automatically change it to "Nissan Skyline GTR".

Other trademarks we should automatically replace
Bandaid = Live Music Festival
Eski = Native Enuit person
Panadol = pain relief tables
Aspirin = acetylsalicylic acid tablets
Coke = Carbonated caffiene drink
Bikini = Submergable Braziere
Braziere = over the shoulder boulder holder
Spandex = gym attire for gay men
astro turf = really fake grass
visa = portable debt creation device
blackberry = dark rasberry
weedeater = mechanical device that spins a piece of plastic really quickly to chop selected plants into little bits
Teflon = Non stick coating
KY = Water based lubrication gel
Trojan = Resident of Troy
Stanley Knife = Shank/shiv/skewer

Fark, soon we'll be forced to refrain from calling skid-steers "Bobcats" and Poms will have to stop calling vacuum cleaners "Hoovers". If it gets your brand name out there, how is it a bad thing???

Its an interesting point...... the reverse is also true...

In some cases companies trademark sayings that are already in use in common speech.... For example the term "Ugg Boots" was trademarked by an american company who then went about sueing every australian company that used the term... In the end they lost, but the small aussie company defending the term spent a long time doing so... without help from the aussie government (damn you John Coward)..

Think about the brand "Bad boy"..... They are very litigeous (they will take people to court in a flash) ... I mean the term "bad boy" has been around for decades, if not centuries... but they trademarked it and will take you for all you have if you use the term to sell anything.

Check this out from their website....
"Bad Boy®, Bad Girl® and Life’s A BeachC are registered trademarks of Platypus Wear, Inc. dba Bad Boy Brands. Use of Bad Boy®, Bad Girl® or Life’s A Beach® as a means of designating source of apparel, accessories, entertainment, food or beverage items or related products and services is strictly forbidden. "" So any use of the term "bad boy" "bad girl" is strictly forbidden if you want to sell ANY product in the apparel, accessories, entertainment, food or beverage .... OR RELATED products and services.... SO If I was to write and direct a porn movie and call it "bad boys meets bad girl" I would get a lawsuit within seconds... If one of my advertisements called someone else a "bad boy" and my products were related to the (listed earlier) industries I would have a lawsuit on my hands...

More from their site
"Although Bad Boy®, Bad Girl® and Life’s A Beach® are words from the English language, the fact that a phrase is used in the English language does not preclude it from acquiring trademark protection. Indeed, many trademarks are words used in common speech, for example, Playboy® and Apple®. Apple® computers would have a claim of trademark infringement where someone used the phrase “it’s the apple of my eye” to sell computer products. While many infringers believe using any English word in a phrase on their products is simply a “fair use” under the trademark laws, the fair use doctrine is rarely successful within the context of selling merchandise for profit." So anything that seems similar will also attract a lawsuit...*cry*

Anyone wanna go halves with me....... Im going to Tradermark the term "THE®" when used to sell items in the food, beverage, music, dance, litterature, television, movie, automotive, accessorie or related industries? Anyone?
