The short answer is yes, but he would have to put you on his policy as a named rider and it will probably cost you more than insuring it by yourself........and when you fall off he will tear you a new asshole cause you stuffed his NCB for the bike/car etc
Insurance is a total rip off ....................UNTIL you go arse over apex into the armco ;)
Been there done it got the T shirt ............the figures they're quoting you have to be considered against the cost of replacing the bike i.e. 3 -4k a year for a new bike ........... I'd rather go 2nd hand .......buy the bike for 5 - 6k go 3rd party/fire/theft for a couple of yrs earn your NCB then get your 1 litre...................Just like the rest of us did ;) ;)

OR
Part with your hard earned cash for shed loads of insurance that you will be too scared to claim off, which will mean you can't afford the fuel for the bike/ tickets to the GP/Supers or nights out with your buddies etc

Can you see where we are coming at you from yet ?????

Well i have my mind set on the new 09 zx6r ...
And therein lies the problem. Minds are like parachutes - they work better when they're open.
... and Paul the manager at Boltons Kawasaki here in Adelaide, suggested the 6r as a good next step in learning to be a better rider and getting welcomed in the super sport range which is where i want to be ( I love these bikes!!)
And it's his job to get you on a new bike. See anything wrong with that picture? An older 600 is more than you need, and makes sense whichever way you look at it. Except it's not "ooooh, pwetty, haven't seen one of those yet" new. And if that's all that motivates you, go for it and don't complain if it bites you (financially or otherwise). Just don't expect to be taken seriously by anyone who can actually ride.
Also is it possible to get insured under a family members name who rides motorbikes and has his full licence and put both our names down as riding the 6r ( for eg have his name down for riding it 80% and mine for riding 20%) that way my insurance will be heaaaaaps cheaper right? And keep doing this untill im at least 20 and by then the insurance will be very little especially since ill be still on a 09 6r and there will be other models out making my bike cost go down makin my insurance go down. I know you can do that on cars, my mums Chrysler 300c has my sister down as they driver and shes 20. And there v8 hemi's.
Doesn't quite work like that. There's a couple of nasty little questions - age and sex of youngest rider. Will get you every time. Also, a lot of 'em want to know how much each rider will be riding (ie "18 year old riding 95-100% of the time? ChaCHING!!"). Insurance companies aren't as stupid as some people think. Your sister won't affect the car insurance as much because she's female. It may be unfair, but that's life.

Insurance for a new bike is not going to be cheap by any means (and may not go down much if at all, despite what you're told), particularly for your age bracket. Unless you live out in Woop Woop or age rapidly. You see, statistically speaking there's a VERY high possibility that you'll need to claim, so they'll drag as much out of you as they can before they have to pay up. If you do need to claim, then they probably won't renew your policy 'cause you're too much of a risk. Fun.

Iv got my mind set on this bike and to be honest this time next year ill be riding it no matter what. And my uncle has retired from riding bikes so he wont care plus im not gona be a dickhead on the bike, ill take it easy for a good 3months be careful and this will make me a better rider in the long run. And i pay 2000 for full comprehensive on my 250 at the moment so next year when i get a 600 and i have my year with them my premiums will be down and i should be paying close to 3000 full comp, so thats only 1000 more from a 250 :? Ill take the year out on the 600 and after that year it will come down more... ect. My uncle rode 25yrs with no insurance once u get older and you no your skills and your not a idiot you will find the older riders dont bother with insurance cause they no the other people will be in the wrong most the time. PLUS: There are no 2nd hand 6r's near me and id want a 05 or higher model and there will be something i dont like bout it, plus my insurance wont be any better.. so.... im just gona see what happens

1. I'm glad he never rode with me !
2. Where would he have been if the other idiot that hit him had no insurance, either ?

All makes perfect sense really.
At your age I thought Penfolds Royal reserve was a good idea too! "$2.99 gunna make it mine!"

Now that you have left school welcome to the real world. You will find that shit isn't as simple as it always seemed back there . Your swimming in the ocean now not your little pond. Life is what you make it and right now I see a complete tosspot trying to thrust his pubescent chest towards everything that is far bigger than him. Don't worry we have all been there, some of us surrvived, some of us carry the scars, some of us didn't make it.
You asked for advice. You got it. You ignored it. Good luck.
Now fuck off and tell your story walking. I for one am done listening.

why do u want 05 or higher sly?? im betting you i'd be quicker on your 250 than you will be on your new 6R... hell right now i'd be slower on the 6 than i would have been on my 250....and secondly f u have your mind set on it... then stop asking us for our opinions... cos u only argue with them.... we're fine for you to get the 600... ultimately its not us who will prang it, injure themselves and wreck the bike... it will happen.. there are two types of riders, those who have crashed and those who will...

have a good time on the 600, i hope you're not a temporary citizen...

This from your vast experience? There are a few valid reasons for not having insurance, but that's not one of 'em.

I look at it this way.. if im going the sped limit of the roads, i no how to ride a bike ( yes ) i dont see what could happen unless its the other wanker's fault. If im cautious, abide the road rules, learn for a good 3months not going too far on it, i reckon id be fine. The money isnt a real factor i no its alot but it comes down each year and id only have to pull out 3grand a year for its insurance its alot yes but i dont have any real big hobbies except bikes, i dont plan on getting a house untill a loong way away, and yeh. I dont drive a car, so this is where my money belongs ( to me anyway) its ncie thats use express ur opinions but if use have ever had your mind set on somehting its hard to get away. Im just gona buy it, insure it, and see how it goes. And to Six addict who said about 2 types of riders, thats true. And i have gone down many times on my other bikes so its kinder out of my system unless i dilebratly go out of my way to go 300km doing a wheelie in rush hour traffic. You see where im coming from? Anyone? Am i th only young dude on here? If thats teh case i dont think use no ? Hello?? :? :?

I can not believe how naive that statement is, after reading your posts I have come to the conclusion that your youth really shines through & I am so glad you reside far enough away that I shall never encounter you, your uncle or any of your family that might have the same shallow concept of basic common sense.
