They DO get hot VERY quickly (Qldf) pulled up at a set of lights, if you get caught at the next set the fan will kick in. They go into the red quick.
That was in Rocky traffic, i couldnt guess what it might be like in inner city Sydney for example, but i would imagine it would NOT be good.
The reason we mention licences is that it so easy to go way faster than you think, and yes most big bore bikes have this prob, but 220 literally feels like 120.

Been some interesting comments just in the first 2 pages, I haven't read the second 2 yet. Just as a reference, for a bike that "isn't quick (off the line), it was officially the worlds fastest accellerating sportsbike on it's release. It was built to put Kawasaki back at the top of the table of worlds fastest bike (the ZZR1100 having been toppled by the 1100 Blackbird). Spewie beat them with the Bussa, and now everyhting is restricted to 299kph anyway.

As for fuel ecomeny, I used to get 300k from 15L (20k per litre) on my cbr6 in commute mode, now I get 17k per litre on the 07 ZX10. Might be worse once I;ve run it in though

It'll probably improve a bit as the engine loosens up...but then so will your right wrist obviously

With the range of riding I do from commuting to scratching to riding to PI, I average 13.9 km/L with a range of 19.8 as my best to 9.5 as my worst over the last 8 months...and looking at my figures the 9.5 is a bit suspect too, more likely it's 10.8

I am always amazed at how little....then how much fuel modern bikes can use

On the last trip, where I did some cruise sections, I could get 320klms from 18 litres. Then on some sections I could get 180klms from 18 litres!!!! I much prefer to get 320, but it doesn't happen very often!

There are 2 kinds of bike riders. Those that own a 12 and those who wish they own a 12. Isnt that right Mick.. If your concerned about running costs maybe this isnt the bike for you. I think we all get different fuel economy and tyre wear. I get about 6k out of tyres and lucky to get 200 out of a tank of juice..

Better handling than on 06 636? Actually, you're probably right, in a School Bus vs F1 car kinda way.

Just to give you my 2.3cents worth
Ride an 06 12
everyday into city for work get around 200 - 220km per tank
21000 km now and nothing but the service cost
tyres running power front and hpx 190 rear about 5000- 6000 km
and really would love to see someone on a 10 go faster through twisties
really sorry than stopped making them
will have to go back to a 10 when and if i ever part with mine

bwahahahahaha Neke, you haven't met me, but c'mon, I'm a lass, I have NEVER had to pick up a bike by myself

and aardvark, I wasn't comparing it to the 06 636 at that point, the 636 felt too much like my current bike (03 636) but with all the raw edges smoothed out, which wasn't entertaining enough for me... but considering its formidable bulk, which I always keep in mind, the 12 felt great as soon as it was moving and I'm sure I can muscle it through corners as fast as I rode my 6 given some time to make friends with it and as for the crim, I'll happily drool over them and chase them through the twisties but it just ain't for me... can't wait for my new bike!!! -J.
