Too true! I didn't factor that in but it explains why so many people could have afforded homes after the second and third doubling, without that extra wage, and with the cost of living rises a lot more famlies would have found housing out of reach. The Japanese market peaked and then fell up to 80% before it normalized back to standardized inflation rates. That is to say back to prices still well below the peak. Will be interesting to see what happens here in the next few yearsdiesel wrote: the only other thing i think you need to take into account is that in the 70s, one person in the family worked, now if you want to buy a house, you need two income's.
