there is a famous photograph of Warren Willing jumping the Levi's Yamaha TZ750 off the 'Hump', at about 270?kmh, he got fully airborne...

its in the archives somewhere, I'll dig it up and post it here........Willing and Hansford had some *fantastic* dices, the jump above was during one of these dices, and I think it was Easter 1974 or 75......?? I think Hansford was also riding a TZ750 back then.......

ps - I watched Kevin Curtain pulling wheelies over 1 metre off the deck back in 2000 on a R1........over the first 'hump'  typical Newcastle boy

In the above photograph, you will note that the wheels on both bikes are off the ground.......this is over the old 2nd hump at Bathurst, which has now been replaced by the Castrol 'Chase'  (pussies....)

anyway, the bikes as you can see are only a metre or 2 apart......and this is at 170mph in the real currency.......  (about 270-280kmh)

The entire race was like this, they swapped positions on the track sometimes 5 or 6 times per lap..........it was, at the time, the most exciting 20 lap Unlimited Grand Prix ever seen in the country ( this was the first season for the TZ750's......)

They knocked 8.85 seconds off the old lap record, after repeatedly lowering it over the course of the GP....

Warren Willing edged out Gregg Hansford by less than a wheels width after a monumental breaking duel on the last lap. What a race - wish I had been there to see it ( my first Bathurst was 1979  )

(From - Australia's Motorcycling Heritage - Jim Scaysbrook) - get a copy, its compulsory reading !!!
