"Dear Valued Customer,

The ADSL Broadband plan you currently subscribe to (1.5M Value Unlimited) is no longer offered. We apologise for any inconvenience, however this has been necessitated by changes to our costs for your plan.

In order for you to continue receiving TPG's Broadband service you need to migrate to another plan before the expiry date of your current subscription on 15/02/2006."

The bastards.... Now what?

I am also on the 1.5mb Value Unlimited with TPG and Wireless modem so have 3 computers using same connection... Have not heard anything about changing yet?

Mark, if you're comfy where you are re an ISP then no need to jump ship is what I figure. My intentions are to remain where I am and then cross the bridge if/when I need to in regards to receiving the email.

Accolades, once your 6 month contract ends you will...

Unless perhaps you barely do 5-10gb a month you might get lucky... My contract ends this month and I got the email about 3 days ago. So make sure you check your TPG email address :)

But then, if you compare a 512 connection to a 56k dialup connection with a maximum theoretical download speed of 7KBps.....

Ya not farkin jokin.......nearly 3/4 an hour last night for a farkin 6 mb download....God I miss the UK and the unlimited 512 I had for 15 pound pm nearly 3 years ago

Just saw this topic - those bastards... thought it may have been too good to be true... I'm on the same plan and I assume mine will be coming by the end of the month (registered around this time last year).

Just checked and I'm ADSL2 equipped, so I'm off to Adam to pay $49.95/mth for 3mb/s downloads :P (24000 kilobits/sec)

Neka, you'll be able to get this one as well, hopefully, as you're probably on the same exchange as I am... Dialup is just pure punishment.

Never a truer word spoken!! First thing I did when I moved to current abode was make sure it could get ADSL, then we'll see if I want to move, it could and I did :)

hope so..tho the last few bloody dramas ive had..knowing my luck there will be too much data loss or woteva they call it.....mongrels...

ive been doin the ring around just in case..i can get unlimited d/l & hours for $16 a month on dial up...or 21GB at 1500 for $49 a month thru optusnet cos i will get my home phone with them....

now as i dont kno bugger all abt internet, and i only use abt 350mb now cos d/l takes so long, does ne1 think id b better off going for a broad band deal with maybe 5GB or sumthin if its under $30??

after having dial up at 44kbps for the last 8 yrs or so, ive never known broadband and im not that impatient...ne suggestions??

My line was fucked here (read: data loss crap) and they upgraded it as part of the process - if you're only moving down the road, fingers crossed all you'll need is a line upgrade to the exchange and you'll be set - might even be lucky enough to have the line already upgraded for you if the previous tenants were on the same line of thought :P

Well I signed up with Exetel on monday, and on Friday I cut over to Exetel.. Everything went smooth..

So far so good..

Download wise the $70 plan is about 36gb pm, excluding 1am-10am which is unmetered..

In the last 2 days I've done 2.9gb metered and about 1.8gb a day unmetered.. so that's about 3.6gb of downloads that aren't included..

Certainly no complaints here... Not seeing full speed as yet, but that could be what I'm trying to get.

Sussing out my options now, basically not much around for under $70 and for that money I might as well stick wth TPG it looks like... Sussing out Optus DSL atm as they offer 40Gb if I change phone providers whichn is no drama.
