yeah battery requirements all check out then, as i tried the same thing via hooking onto a car via jumper leads. its lacking something somewhere...

about 6 months ago, I told you that the valve clearances needed adjustment. You are wasting your time chasing problems that don't exist with carbies or coils or any of that shit. The bike won't start from cold when the clearances have closed right up. What it is *lacking* as you describe above - are those crucial points you get from proper compression. Static compression on these little jiggers is pretty high - up around 11:1 or thereabouts. When the valves close up - especially on the inlet side - you will have a marked reduction in cold cranking pressure and starting becomes hard to impossible - except for bump-starting.
