Ive owned 2 zx12 great bikes i curently own a zx14 its a much better bike .The 12 was good exept for the pillion seat and fuel econ 160-200 klms wen flogging it i was always lookn for a fuel station .if u get a 12 get 04 or up better bike i recon but if i was u i would get a 14 its just a updated 12 cheers happy bike hunting

oops i forgot to mention my zx14 doesn't out handle a zx9

Yeah the 14 is the next one on my list to try out. The only draw back to the 12 is that its a bit dated tech, and dodgy fuel economy. A nicer pillion seat wouldnt go astray either.

maraach if your ever up albury way u can take my 14 for a spin its fully set up for fast road riding.only get a zrx if u like your bikes broken down all the time.zx12 are good great personality but a 14 with the right mods are better good luck

Mate just remember ground clearance and wheel base,That's a tough call, really. The only real developments to come along since the release of the 12r are the BPF and high/low speed damping circuits. I know neither of those bikes have the BPF and I'm not sure about the adjustability of the 2nd gen 14/busa shock. It still comes down to how well suited the OEM valving is to your weight and riding style. Also, if you're still riding around on 2000-2005 fork/shock oil and nitrogen charge you really can't make a valid comparison.
The 12 with a 190/55, slightly dropped front, slightly raised rear, reduced weight (aftermarket exhaust, etc), and a properly set up and maintained suspension is more than competent in the corners.

Fair call max I loved my 2 x 12 the 04 actually had better stock Susp handled better then my 07 zx14 but overall I think the 14 is a touch better bike the fuel Econ on my 12 was apaling just started giving me the shits.at the end of the day I dont think u would go wrong with either bike. how much do the bst rims improve the handling on your 12 I've heard Awsome reviews bout them.

Plus
- better Nissin brakes
- bigger calipers ( I think )
- better fuel economy
- better balance of frame and engine for handling
- comfy seat
- bigger faster engine.

Not bagging either bike but it is enevetable that a bike developed AT LEAST 9-10 years ago will be a little out dated in tech.

Doesnt mean It is any less or more of a good bike, but it is out dated now in terms of tech.

Ask any 12 owner why they didn't buy a 14 and most of em will tell you because it's friggen ugly.
14 = fat ugly tourer
12 = sexy big bore sports bike

i vote for that emotional response












Mind you the new 14R does stack up well spec wise from the first efforts, however it is a lot closer to a GTR than a 10R

To state that after almost 10 years and millions in R&D that kawasaki has only made 2 major improvements in tech and the 14 has neither is just BS. Com'on you don't really believe that do you??????

Which bike is better, well then there's a debate based on personal preference

Mate the only time the BST's make a differance is on high speed style corners 100kph and up,i have had both sets of wheels on my bike(with the same tyres) ..After those speeds the bike feels lighter on the steering and ezeyer to pull into those styles of corners.PS i don't have "much" of an issue with the brakes but i will try the 320mm discs on it . :kuda:PS the corner speeds i said are what the bike can do in corner not road sign speeds.

I guese im just a bit buyest

So you're talking corners with road sign speeds marked at 45 kph or more then yeah?
